Extreme music becomes more popular worldwide

Recent Kreator album 'Gods of Violence' (2017) for the first time topped German charts and peaked at #118 on Billboard 200 ( that's quite good, none of Kreator 1980s-2000s albums entered Billboard 200 ). 'Pleasure to Kill' (1986) for the first time entered German charts after 31 years of it's release. That's quite impressive.

I'll wait until ''extreme music'' stops being synonimous with ''extreme metal'' music before I start to celebrate.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-02-2017 03:41 PM

if “extreme” music becomes popular will it still be extreme

rostasi 12-02-2017 03:53 PM

It has to become extremely popular.

Janszoon 12-02-2017 07:31 PM

Frownland 12-02-2017 08:22 PM

If extreme music becomes mainstream, do we call it exstream music?

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-02-2017 08:23 PM

and if it's only big in Mexico do we call it mexstream?

Frownland 12-02-2017 08:24 PM

If a girl named Megan wants extreme music to be the most popular genre, do we call it Meg's dream?

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-02-2017 08:26 PM

let's say scientists were able to find a way to use eggs to create energy and power music streaming devices. would we call that eggstream?

Frownland 12-02-2017 08:30 PM

If we put a package of paper on the outside of a box, would it be ext. ream?

I have an original Noise Records 'Pleasure to Kill' cd. I can sell it for $ 15 000 (free shipping included).

Jade_City 12-03-2017 03:26 PM

woah its getting extreme in Germany

The Batlord 12-03-2017 03:45 PM

I'm sorry why do I want what is probably a bad version of an album from an early CD that was mixed improperly for a CD that gives early CD versions of LP albums a bad name?

Yes, because it's still in the realm of extreme on the scale of music that has been released?

do you really think there wouldn't then be a backlash against against "popular" extreme music

like if it's popular i'm assuming it's becoming accessible to more listeners and therefore you're going to have a certain subset of people striving to make it more extreme than ever

you can use certain genres of metal or punk to show how that's happened before.

for every entry level hardcore band there's two or three trying to give you some of the nastiest dirtiest **** you ever dun heard

There's a limit though. And the early stuff is still extreme relatively speaking. Either way extremity has no bearing on how good a band is. When Jawbox sold out they made their best album. And sometimes pretty extreme stuff suddenly gets accepted by the mainstream for no appearant reason even though normally they think a pop punk distortion guitar is heavy.
