What are your favorite Oldies?
I'm trying to find some more older music to listen to, what are some of your favorites? I'll check anything out but I like Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Buddy Holly, Al Green, Marvin Gaye and all that stuff. Thanks for sharing

At what point does an old song become an oldie?

I assume he's talking fifties/ early sixties. I guess my favorite artists pre-Beatles would be Chuck Berry, Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley (naturally) and some blues artists like John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters with an HM to Howlin Wolf.

Yeah but why stop there? You'll miss out on music of the 20s, 30s and 40s.

^ This does a great job of conjuring up a more innocent era for American teenagers, which is why I was all the more surprised to hear, at 00:20:
"I bet my penis to a candy bar You'll be cuter than a movie star." :yikes: Please prove me wrong! Here's a novelty song from 1925 which was revived by The Andrews Sisters as the fifties turned into the sixties. I used to enjoy hearing their version on the radio as a kid, but here we are, going back to the source:- |
