Seeking like music

Brand new here, so please bear with me.

I am seeking music very much like the song Silent Sorrows and Empty Boats from the album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by one of my favorite groups, Genesis.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is a million tracks similar to this, I just don't know how to classify them or find them.

Any insight would be most appreciated!

Thanks, and cool place!

Mac

You're basically talking about prog rock then, and instrumental prog rock, of which there is a ton. "Silent Sorrow in Empty Boats" is a beautiful piece, and I can suggest similar instrumental prog, but nothing exactly like that one. I doubt there would be anything exactly like it or very close to it but here are my suggestions anyway, for now.

"Evensong" by Yes is very short, but something along those lines

"Ankor Wat", in part (also Yes)

"Liquidity" by Marillion

"Heaven and Hell" by Vangelis

Thank you all so much. Not exactly what I was looking for, but great suggestions and tunes nonetheless. Yes I am very familiar with. Some of Wakeman's keyboard journeys are very close to my heart. I do appreciate the effort, and the journey continues! Thanks again!

After listening to Silent Sorrow (I've never heard it until now), it seems that was a Hackett driven song, with the swells and ethereal elements. He does have a few solo efforts that come close, but more guitar driven. I haven't dug into his work too extensively, but here's something that might work for you:

I'd say look into his body of solo work and you'll most likely find some gems that are similar to what you're looking for. ...and I hope I'm not being to crass, but I've done some similar tunes with an ethereal quality to some extent. Not trying to toot my own horn, just something that came to mind. Again, they're mostly guitar driven:

The Caves of Altamar

Good luck in your search.
