Really sick post-hardcore tunes that incorporate electronics nicely but it's like they can't write a song without throwing in some filler. Shame too, since they hit hard on groove and creativity when they're not catering to a traditional song structure. Just gimme the meat holmes, nobody gives a **** about your verses. Still really enjoyed it though. The vocals could be improved a lot but they don't take away from the music and it seems like a Hendrix approach of having to do what you gotta do when you can't find the right singer. The guitar player has a great ear and slays on the use of the whammy bar and bends, I feel like we'd get along well. 7/10

I've Been obsessing over this record lately. I agree that theirs a lot of filler which bogs the record down. But when the record hits, it hits!

I wanna listen to it just because the cover artwork is 11/10

@Frown

What are your thoughts on Unwound?

I need to hear more post hardcore bands, i only know a few.

Frownland 05-28-2018 01:53 PM

Unwound is great. Have you heard Self Defense Family? Consider it a rec if not

Also pretty sure that you know Drive Like Jehu but I have to bring them up since they have the wildest guitarwork in the game

EDIT: Damn it's been a while since I've listened to Heaven Is Earth, great album. Hopefully they swing by my area to promote their newest release, I bet they'd be cool live.

Im on that. Thnx.

I just recently heard Repetition and was inclined to compare them to DLJ and i think DLJ have a slight edge over Unwound because of their vocals. The singer from DLJ has a better voice and better presence but i find Unwound are perhaps a bit more consistent.

I don't think he's reading this thread.

@Dharma & Greg

Don't know what chances are of getting you into Dir En Grey at this point. Probably slim. But maybe check out this non-album track. It's death metal-ish and pretty cool imo. Got some dark, nasty vibes going on.
