The last soundtrack in Bowie's discography. One more week then seals it.

I've never heard this one either :D

Jesus! What do you do: patrol the forum waiting for the next Bowie album??

First track was sweet (also the title one), second was pretty boring and way too long. Instrumentals a bit too jazzy for my liking, though the second one is good. I don't know; this started off so well, and given that Bowie has said it's his favourite album I was expecting great things. But I'm finding it quite hit and miss. "Bleed Like a Craze, Dad" (what?) is pretty terrible, while "Strangers When We Meet" is great, as is "Dead Against It". I don't really see the idea of "new House music" here though, while admittedly I know virtually nothing about House, old or new. But it seems more really like new-wave to me. Certainly picking up anyway.

Yeah, actually, fair enough. With the exception of the two mentioned above, and the first instrumental, pretty sweet and I could see myself listening to this again. Could do without two versions of the title track though. 4/5

This one sounds like a combination of some of the most boring aspects of techno, 90's dance-pop, post-Waters Pink Floyd, and ambient music rolled into one album.
Another Bowie album that went in one ear and out the other. A few, brief, interesting moments but no tracks that really stood out or stuck with me.
The song "South Horizon" was the closest I came to a favorite track and the only one that I cared enough about to listen to a second time.

2/5

I’m friendly to the genre but I think "Ian Fish, U.K. Heir” does it proper

Has anyone read the novel? I bet it’s good.

Having listened to this thing a handful of times by now, I actually quite like it.

The first instrumental, "Mysteries", is kind of a throwaway, but there's a lot of low key catchy songs and good variety. I'm giving it a light 4, but a 4 none the less. It's clear to me at this point that David Bowie isn't really an artist that I'm super excited about, so an album with a bunch of fairly solid tunes on it is about all I can expect most of the time. I'd buy this one if I stumbled over it for cheap in a record store. Not massive praise, but most of his albums I wouldn't buy if they cost a penny. That's not to say they're garbage, but I'm not using valuable shelf space for just anything.

I'm just hoping there's one more 5'er in his discography. Not that many albums left to go, but I still think it's likely.
