Bowie reaches his twentieth album, and his penultimate of the twentieth century.

I realise how little I care for his 90s work. Not a great decade for Dave.

There is like one track I like here.

I've rated it 2/5.

Bowie releases a tedious, techno album of forgettable songs. As unremarkable as it is, it's still not his worst.
'Nuff said.

I'll be generous and give this one a 2/5

I’m following your lead.

Again, what happened to your pre-election promise of 5/5 regardless, Donald?

Am I going crazy here, or is this album not that bad? Maybe even pretty good?

"Telling Lies" is probably the most vibrant Bowie has sounded since the early 80's!
Sure, some of the musical ideas are questionable and the beats sometimes fit rather awkwardly, but there's some more memorable songs than he's been able to dish up with in a while and once you get attuned to the odd stylings of this album, it's pretty exciting.

I'm not giving it a 5, but it's a bigger 4 than any of the previous few I gave. I mean, I'm not saying anyone is wrong to give this a bad score, but can't anyone at least see what I mean when I say that Bowie sounds kinda... revitalized here? Energetic, punchy music. How long is it since he did that last?

4/5

Well **** you all (except MicShaz): I love this album! Not a bad track on it for me, totally engaging and one of the better ones of his 90s period. Excellent. 5/5 from me. Love it.

Hell yeah!

Actually, this album isn't bad. It still doesn't rate with his classic work but I found myself actually liking a few tracks. I'm Afraid of Americans is his best song since Absolute Beginners and Earthling is his best album since Scary Monsters (though, in the case of the later, that isn't saying much). It's still a pretty flawed album, but at least now we're starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel (Favorite tracks: Seven Years in Tibet and I'm Afraid of Americans)

6/10 (The Word has spoken :D)
