Default Trollheart Reviews the Music You Hate

... and I love.

I'm quite aware, as my usertitle proclaims, that nobody likes my music. Well, very very few people anyway. But

I've long ago come to the conclusion that there's no point in arguing the merits of the artists I like with those who don't see anything good in them, and although for some years I did my best to “fit in” and try new artists, through various threads, **** that. So now I'm doing what I want to. I'm not ready to go back to the slog of personal journals yet, if ever, so I'm just doing this on an ad hoc basis. I'll be reviewing the albums I like, the ones I've been listening to for years, the artists I know and love. Occasionally there may be a new album by an artist I know, or even a new artist I get into, but mostly this will be stuff that's as comfortable to me as my mom jeans.

The format will be pretty much exactly the same as my Genesis thread, and will take elements too from my Listen With Trollheart thread, except these albums will be chosen by me, not taken at random from my collection. As usual, everyone's welcome, but do be aware that though you can write comments like “Really dude?” and “I wouldn't listen to them if they were the last band on Earth” or even “How can you be into such **** music?” I will not be responding to such, so prepare for those sort of posts to be totally ignored, though I know I'll get them.

Most of you, as the title of the thread suggests, will hate the music I review here, or at least be bored by, or even not have heard of it. That's fine. Everyone has different tastes, and most of you think mine is up my arse, and that's your right to think that way if you wish. But I harbour small hopes that a few may appreciate it. I'm looking in the direction of MicShazam, Anteater, maybe the recently-returned Rubber Soul (now there's a theme for a horror novel!) - hell, maybe Kiii or Chula or Plankton might take a look in, but I'm not expecting many of you to be fans of this music.

That's not a problem. You can of course just stay the **** out, though I expect that won't happen, because people are bored, some people like to drag something down for the sheer hell of it, and of course everyone is fascinated by car crashes, and surely this will be one. I don't care. Here you will find a lot of pop, pop/rock, some adult contemporary, a little country, maybe even classical, some metal and of course a ****load of prog. Jazz? Nah, not here mate. Funk/soul? Probably not. Hip-hop? Almost certainly not. Punk? Well, you never know. I did come across some damn fine stuff in my 2017 albums thread. Still, if you want the kind of thing most of you are more into, I suggest checking out Frownland's Top 20 or maybe one of Mondo's threads about metal you should know because it rules. Here, I'll be pandering to no-one, accepting criticism of my choice from no-one, and probably giving everyone a good laugh. Again, I don't care.

Expect the first snide comment from Frownland or Batty, followed probably by elphenor and maybe Mondo, if he cares. All of which will be ignored, as I said. Also being ignored: stupid questions like “why another thread?” and so forth. If you want to know why, well I'll tell you. **** you, that's why. I want to talk about the music I love, and, you know what? I'm gonna. My attitude began, years ago now, as “I'm going to enjoy sharing my music with these guys”. It quickly became “Why don't these guys like my music?” and metamorphosed into “Well maybe if I listen to their music they'll give mine a chance.” That, in the main, never happened, so now it's “They don't like my music, well **** them.”

I understand much of this OP is coming across as confrontational. It's not intended to be, but I know from experience the kind of reaction I can expect from, not all, but some, perhaps even the larger part, of you guys here, and I'm just pre-empting that. Some people seem to believe that I should hide away my music, pretend I'm not into the artists I am, as if I should be embarrassed by or ashamed of it. I'm not. There's no reason why I shouldn't be able to talk about my music if I want, and share it with those who are interested, just because it's seen as unpopular. So that's what I'm going to do here. If you don't like it, nobody's forcing you to read the thread. There are plenty of others.

tl;dr - Most of you will hate this music but I'm going to review it anyway. Snide comments will be ignored.

Next up:

Can't say I'm a fan of Bon Jovi but so what? Post what you like, Trolls; screw what anyone else thinks. I'll probably start a Member's Journal in a similar vein (though in my case it will be more sixties, punk/new wave, and garage rock in general). Anyhow, I'm sure to like some of your musical choices.

Do you have a job in real life? I can't remember how old you are, but I think you're really old. Is that why you have all this free time?

Pretty sure everyone here hates ICP. You should do their entire discography.

Subscribed. I'd be curious what you're gonna pick when it's just going to be all of your personal favourites.

I like the "no compromises" angle. It's better to be honest that try to please.

I didn't really mind that album you had me review in my journal. Hate is a strong word.

If I say I hate myself, will you review one of my albums?

Nice try, but a little transparent.
