The return of Rubber Soul brings us to the album he has been trying to get us to listen to for months now. Vote, debate, discuss etc here.

This album sounds like a combination of second-rate Doors, Beach Boys, Flo & Eddie, and The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. Not bad influences to have but they can't quite rise to the occasion and the band ends up sounding like a novelty act more than anything else.
Very dated sounding and very much of its time. It was entertaining enough for me to give it a "like" but I doubt I'll ever bother to listen to it again.

6.5/10

A fun record but like PF says it’s definitely second tier. It hangs its hat on the frontman never really coming up with much to accentuate his rants and diatribes. He’s actually kind of like a poor man’s Jello Biafra. Oddly, even with a circus atmosphere the lyrics come off more shallow and pretentious than humorous. He gives mention to many big philosophical concepts but fails to explore any in an interesting way. 68 doesn’t make this a groundbreaker. Still amusing though. Voted liked.

Any sort of familiarity with this album/artist, or are both entirely new to you? None, other than that Rubber Soul had mentioned them before and suggested them for the club before pulling out.
Expectations (if any): Dunno
Initial impression: Bloody annoying.
Favourite track(s): Pretty much none of them. Maybe the last one. But it's a small maybe.
Least favourite track(s): All of them
Overall impression: Meh and annoying
Chances of listening to further material from this artist? Zero, even if they had any more, which they don't.
Rating (not mandatory): 2/10
Comments: Worth waiting for? Absolutely not. These guys seem to think they're a lot funnier than they are, laughing at their own “clever jokes”, but we are not amused. Well, I'm sure not. This was a real chore to get through, and I have to say I can see why, and I'm glad that, they never made another album. Bloody awful, and a waste of my time listening to it.

I do get a pretty massive Doors vibe from this album, but it certainly isn't bad or anything. I enjoy the vibe going through 'Goddess Of Death' and 'One Room Cemetery', but this certainly leans more toward the Brainticket-esque "wtf am I listening to" side of the psychedelic spectrum. The late 60's was a pretentious time, but I'm not gonna hold that against 'em.

6.5 out of 10
