Music Module Idea
 

Hi;

I am taking some risk posting this information here but I need some feedback on an idea I have for a new website.

Ok, here is the low-down:

What I hope to do is to develop a platform for aspiring musicians to create modular music. Users would register into classes (lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, vocals, editors/producers etc) and submit lyrics, samples, vocals, instrumentals etc in an appropriate fomat as a module. Other users can then download these modules and add their contributions to the mix .... and in the end hopefully we will have a fairly decent song produced from different people, in different music genres, all over the world.

What I need to know is, would people be willing to use it - in particular, would they contribute modules?

I have the resources and time to develop this site, but before doing so I would just like to make sure that it isnt a pointless exercise.

To any web developers out there: if you would like to pursue this venture could you please contact me - I am looking for a partner.

I think its an exellent idea but the amount of serious attention you will get might be a problem. Alot of people will have what they think are great ideas, and when they're not used will take offense, complain, etc. Awesome idea though.. keep us posted.

Yeah. They are some of the problems I am a little worried about ...... however, I am more concerned about not getting enough contributions.

I dont think it would be too bad if we recieved entries which were not so crash hot ... hopefully some of the more talented artists could pick these modules up and either add to, or edit them so that they become great.

As long as the site recieves enough contributors then it should be successful ... i think/hope.

If i dont get enough of a response from people willing to contribute I probably wont go through with it.

So if you would like to see this site created - Speak up :P

Well, you have my vote.

I think it's a kiler idea, but Im not sure how mnay people would upload their stuff. If you could get the word around well enough it would be way cool.
