And how come no one uses them anymore?

A computer.

And that particular sound isn't used anymore because it's ****ing obnoxious. That **** was in 99% of popular music in the early 2010's and it got old real fast. I still remember how much I hated Minaj's godawful Starships track which I believe used the same kind of staccato synth.
