^nah this misses the outrageous level of trashiness and obscenity which to me is the only enjoyable thing about Britney. I have a soft spot for songs like Womanizer and Baby one more time for that reason. Or maybe it is that I actually did not know this song from my childhood so there's no nostalgia involved and I'm rationalizing that. Anyway I never thought I'd write a four line analysis of my feelings about Britney Spears but I just did that, this thread is really taking me in unexpected directions

Dharma & Greg - Too much male shouting, every vocal sound in a Britney song that is not Britney is a waste. Regardless I like this one better, this is more what I was talking about.
Blarobbarg - Cool, I've been meaning to get into Coltrane. Intriguing, the music sounds so chaotic at first (if you don't know jazz) but it has this incredible drive forward that's very compelling. I'm not sure how to explain it but it's hard to pause, it's constantly going somewhere. I will take time to listen to the whole thing and wrap my head around it.
grindy - I'm spooked, in a good way. The combination with the lyrics makes it very eerie

In all seriousness Maria, there are WAY better places to start with Coltrane. That's literally the last recording we have of him and he was going some pretty wild directions. If you're new to him as an artist I recommend checking out A Love Supreme first, as it is widely considered his most important album. If you like the more experimental aspects, go forward in the discography. If you like the less experimental bits, go backwards in his discography.

That said, he honestly didn't put out anything bad so check it all out.

Thanks, I like the wildness of this one but I've long been curious about A Love Supreme, I guess I'll just take in a weird mix of earlier and later work

According to Batty I have Pitchfork taste, which is pretty accurate; attempts to broaden my horizon are appreciated (but success is not

guaranteed)
Book and film recs are cool too

[never heard of Pitchfork]
