What about Primus and Phish? I hate those bands as much as Tool. Is that also driven by their fan bases?

Yes. Well, the Primus one is influenced a bit by the Residents influence, but yes.

The Batlord 06-13-2019 04:30 PM

I've barely listened to Primus but my distaste for them is at least less than my distaste for Tool since at least Primus have some personality. But yeah **** Primus.

OccultHawk 06-13-2019 04:45 PM

I saw Primus open for Neil Young and by the time it was over I had never hated a band so completely.

Frownland 06-13-2019 04:46 PM

Looks like someone hates fun!

It's nice to be able to use that dumb ass argument once in a while.

Key 06-13-2019 04:49 PM

I like Tool

That's fair

That doesn't sound depressing at all, to be honest. I mean, if it comes with the job of being a teacher yes, but just that one act alone could be fun.

Frownland 06-13-2019 04:54 PM

Batman confuses depression with jealousy.

I'm Doug now, you misgendering fascist.

Guns n Roses

The Batlord 06-13-2019 05:07 PM

Bruh there's a new Tool album coming out August 30th supposedly. I say we make it a forum day and make it all about Tool. There's been like two at most Tool albums released while MB has been around so we can't waste this opportunity.

Key 06-13-2019 05:17 PM

There is indeed a new album coming in August. If they go on tour and they come over to Seattle, I'll probably see them. Loved seeing them during their 10000 Days tour.

The Batlord 06-13-2019 05:23 PM

Was probably me.

Lucem Ferre 06-13-2019 05:23 PM

When I was buying Death's first album the self proclaimed death metal fan at the counter that had never heard of them recommended Lamb of God.

I know it's hard to understand looking back when you have your small peeps and arctic monkees, but imagine where you never listened to anything good, ever. It was all either glam rock or grunge and if you didn't like it then tough because other music doesn't exist. Now imagine that you only listened to that garbage, then you hear the opening notes of Sweet Child O Mine. It blew our minds. We were slaves to the sophisticated yet stripped down beauty that shook us to our cores after only listening to glam and grunge crap for all of our lives. It must have been what seeing Beethoven's first show except if he wasn't a frilly ***got. GNR was SO RAW that they really wiped out everything before it, especially when there's only crap on the radio. I know it's hard to understand looking back, but you should love GNR like I do because they're the hardest and most extreme band to ever exist, even more than screamo!

Lucem Ferre 06-13-2019 05:33 PM

Imagine you were crouching down and putting your head between your legs and you find out that you can put your own penis in your mouth. So you proceed to do so and it escalates into performing fellatio on yourself. This thread is a lot like that.

The Residents are assclowns. That’s why I hate them. They’re the Carrot Tops of experimental rock. I hate them for being an embarrassment to the genre.

If you want to be Chula then don't forget Slash's Les Paul and Marshall stacks that hadn't been used since the 70s.

If you were over 8 years old why the **** would you have never heard anything better than GNR?

That'll happen when you lump in a music parody act with artists who take themselves too seriously instead of evaluating each of them on their own strengths.

I've actually heard that sentiment a lot from non-Chulas. I don't think he was ever on about them anyways.

Zeppelin deserves the adoration.

Not often but it was the only thing he ever said about the band when he did say anything.

Anteater 06-14-2019 11:34 AM

Lol you ****s would love Tool if they were some band with 10 fans at the bottom of a well somewhere.

Oriphiel 06-14-2019 11:45 AM

I would?

Kill all the Tool fans but 10 and you’ll see it isn’t so.

Ja, you just wouldn't give a **** about them because they would be too obscure for you to supplement your stance on them for a personality.

They would forever be associated with the great pseudointellectual white male genocide and that's definitely a confounding factor.

OccultHawk 06-14-2019 12:23 PM

Frown has totally owned the Tool debate.

Key 06-14-2019 12:24 PM

Listening to Tool while reading this debate actually makes the debate somewhat interesting.

I saw em live once . They were okay but the audience ruined it with their singalong bull****.
