Ennio Morricone - great music

Morricone created a lot of great music, so I figured we could take this opportunity to share some of our favourites.

I'll start with this wonderful version of the Good, The Bad and The Ugly from Quincy Jones' 75th birthday celebration. (The musicians are: Patti Austin, Stevie Woods, Herbie Hancock, Greg Phillinganes, David Delhomme, Paul Jackson Jr, Nathan East, John Robinson, Paulinho da Costa)

I don't personally know if this was ever topped.

There's a lot to love about that one.

The simplicity and beauty of the opening english horn (he was really good with that - Gabriel's Oboe has been shared a lot now, and it has that same qualities). And that vocal! Pretty fun how it's paired with the trumpet - I'd love to play that live.

I wonder how Ennio M felt as a composer about having his music so totally associated with a fistful of films by Sergio Leone?

After The Good, The Bad and The Ugly main theme, this is probably my favourite Morricone track, though the movie was way too long imo.

Haven't seen the movie but Il gatto a nove code is my soundtrack of his.

Nice, Frownland! I hadn't heard that one. Are you familiar with Art Ensemble of Chicago? If this is your favourite Morricone, you'd probably like them. And György Ligeti.
