Agreed on the Tommy Emanuel acoustic post. |

Another for me is Repeater by Fugazi. Avanti post punk. Sonic Youth noise. Hard riffs. A big step up from Minor Threat as far as Ian goes.

Raw Power is beautiful. Most beautiful noise I ever heard. Marque Moon is beautiful too. If you are a guitarist I wanna hear what you sound like (assuming these influences are reflections of your sound). |
My 5 preferences in no certain order...
1.Ike Turners Kings Of Rhythm/ I’m Tore Up (1976)...17 smoking tracks from the 1950s hardest rocking cat & his crack shot band, best described by the label it’s on Red Lightning, not for the faint hearted
Pick to click: Sad As A Man Can Be 2.Miles Davis / Agharta (1975)...with Peter Cosey who was as under appreciated as Hendrix was revered, sadly this was as close as we would ever get to a Miles & Hendrix collaboration 3.Television/ Marquee Moon (1977)...during the 70s this record & Derek & Dominos / Layla were 2 of my preferred guitar albums 4.MC5 / High Time (1971)...I have always said if more kids had listened to this as much as LZ & Pink Floyd the 1970s would have been much different indeed... The mighty 5’s swan song & Kramer & Smith shine at every turn #5.The Yardbirds / Shapes Of Things (1977) ...A 2 record comp with licks from Clapton & Beck so dangerous you could cut yourself on them.More than essential |
Van Halen - Fair Warning
Van Halen - Van Halen II |

You've probably already seen this, but thought I'd share: James Williamson giving lessons in Raw Power riffing, Lee Press-On Nails and Nashville tuning. ;) |
