Karice's Music Corner! :D
I think I should have my own Music Corner in order to prevent resentment.... :D
I am sorry. I started a thread claiming that YouTube made a mistake music wise by recommending me a video that reads,"AC DC Back In Black in the thumbnail and throughout the video when it was actually Hell's Bells. I then did research and found out Back In Black is the Album name. I clicked on my thread to admit my mistake, I only got one reply saying something like,"WTF?" And making a confused face. I then found out that thread is closed. I really should have done my research BEFORE making that I'll thought out thread.... |
You should probably create this thread in the Members Journal section

A Journal is more of a "What I did today," than a Corner where I talk about my music thoughts. :) |
That's an understandable mistake. By the way, we got off on the wrong foot with your fanfic threads, so let me extend the olive branch. Sorry if I got a little heated.
Anyway, a music journal is where you can record your thoughts on any band, artist or number of same, albums, styles, or actually anything you like. I have ones on Prince, classical music, country music and then ones on history like the history of Ireland, England, the USA, the Old West, the Devil, Serial killers, vampires... it can be literally anything. And the best part is, it's yours to do with as you like. So SGR is correct, that the best place to put a thread in which you intend to write about your own favourite music or whatever is definitely the journals section, though you're not by any means obliged to do so. The only thing is that if you open a thread here, unless you update it a lot, it's probably going to end up being pushed off the page by other threads. That may happen in the journal section too (especially with all the journals I write!) but it is a better place to be. Up to you of course. |

I listened to Hell's Bells by AC/DC and I find the implication they hope Bon Scott landed in Hell after his death disturbing... :/ But then again, these are the same People who themselves implied they want to go to Hell after their deaths..... :/

Okay, first of all let's understand something here. Few if any rock bands write lyrics in a literal sense. Slayer may have written "I've made my choice - 666!" but do they actually want to go to/believe in Hell? Perhaps, perhaps not. Sometimes these things are just metaphors, or a way to illustrate some point. Sometimes they're just written to piss people off, to get attention or to conform to an image they've either created or has been foisted upon them. Cliff Richard may have written "Devil Woman" but he was very much a Christian and people would have been quite surprised/shocked if he had professed an interest in Satanism, just as those outside the know might have wondered what Ozzy Osbourne, a self-confessed (not) believer in the Devil was doing writing love songs?
I've checked through the lyric of "Hell's Bells" and am quite frankly surprised you could come to the conclusion you did. Nowhere does it mention Scott, nor their wish he should go to hell. It's bravado. AC/DC are a band who use hell and devilish imagery in their songs a lot - "Highway to Hell", "Rock'n'Roll Damnation", "Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be", "Evil Walks" etc - but they're just songs. They're not meant to be taken as proof that these guys have any sort of interest in the occult, the afterlife or Satan. You can read too much into lyrics - I often do - but you have to also accept that your interpretation may be way off, which in this case, is certainly true. Here's a quote from Malcolm Young, which says it all: "We take the music far more seriously than we take the lyrics, which are just throwaway lines." Wiki is your friend. My advice, if you don't want more "huh?" gifs and you want to be taken seriously here is pretty simple: do your research. |

Sorry, sorry. :shycouch: Never one of my favourite bands. |

Their live album though, If You Want Blood, You've Got It is a kickass album - better than any of their studio albums pretty easily. And yes, I prefer Bon Scott - but there's not a huge difference between him and Johnson - Scott had a slightly better voice and seemed to have more energy. |
I gotta ask Karice, how old are you?
|
I wasn't big on AC/DC either, especially since their fans at the time of their heyday were contemptuous of the bands I liked. One smart mouth screamed that Bowie sucks when he passed me once (I was wearing a Bowie T-shirt).
But as the years have passed, I've come to appreciate AC/DC as a really good hard rock band. Yeah, I'm a little more partial to the Bon Scott years. Also interesting that Angus and George Young were childhood friends with Harry Vanda of Easybeats fame. Needless to say the Easybeats sound nothing like AC/DC. |

A friend who worships their memory added a large extention to his new house to keep all his AC/DC memorabilia. No doubt when his estate is finally wound up his collection will fetch a fortune. Even the half size AC/DC pool table. |
I was really into AC/DC as a teen. I had a lull after Razor's Edge came out. Then I saw Empire Records, and went back to them. You always know what you're getting with them. It's like nobody wanted them to change or evolve. They do what they do, and everyone (well almost everyone) loves it.

Who Made Who was the first album I owned from them. That would've been somewhere in the late 80s. I was surprised to learn that it was a soundtrack to a Stephen King movie. I still haven't seen the movie (Maximum Overdrive).

Not technically a music post, but it is about a Singer. In 1993, Guns N'Roses was being sued by Steven Adler after they fired him for being a heavy drug addict. He sued for back pay and Royalties. Right before the Court Hearing, Axl walks BEHIND his Bodyguard.... I found this strange. Shouldn't the Client be in FRONT of the Bodyguard? :/
|
Of course not! The bodyguard can hardly guard any body if he's behind him. If anyone takes a shot, who's gonna get hit first?

Well I guess ideally the bodyguard is supposed to be covering all angles, like circling back and forth, but he or she would be first through the door, checking exits, shielding the client when getting into a car and so forth. Of course, if you're rich like Axl Rose you probably have more than one bodyguard, so you could have one behind and one ahead.

Actually, a four Corner "sandwich" would be the most ideal. Bodyguard to the Client's left, Bodyguard to the Client's right, Bodyguard in the back of Client, Bodyguard in front of Client. Client is protected by all four corners, safe in the middle. :) |
Here is the Axl Rose Court Hearing in question. Axl's Bodyguard walks in front of him in the very beginning of the video...
