What the Chef is serving

Welcome to MB, ChefBrunch!

This is a very neat idea for a thread, plus clever wording in your OP. I wonder if you can serve up some fresh Hot Buttered Soul -or a dish like this track by Isaac Hayes. What I'm looking for: someone who de-constructs the elements of pop/rock, then stretches them out one by one so that they wind around the song and push it along in unpredictable directions. What IH does is not just jazz/rock noodling on a theme, although there is a touch of that in here too.

I love that song, its actually a much older song. I really dig on a lot of old 70's, Isaac hayes Joy is also another fantastic jam.

here is one I think you will like. If you are already familiar I will dig deeper, this is a stellar track.

Well done, ChefBrunch! I was ready to be disappointed by I Want To Be Free, but then at about 3 mins in it starts to get down to the nitty-gritty and then continues well to the end.

I didn't care so much for the Bobby Womack song: I didn't mean for soul to be a necessary ingredient, though perhaps I was not clear on that point. Also, his long spoken intro made his song a great candidate for this thread that I started long ago: https://www.musicbanter.com/general-...-biz-kids.html

I'm impressed with what you came up with so quickly and I'm now checking out Joy (long version of course

PS: Yep, Dionne Warwick's Walk On By is right up there with the very best classic pop singles.

Not really into that sorta music myself,So pretty lost in 90s angst punk pop which I despise.

But I do appreciate some psychedelic furs.

I listened to several swirlies songs. IDK to me it kinda sounds like psychedelic furs, except they don't really know how to play their instruments and make up for their lack of abilities by calling it noise pop.
