Louis Cole (Solo, Knower, Clown Core)

I've been totally obsessed with Louis Cole for the past two weeks.
Been somewhat aware of him for years now but whenever I checked out his solo stuff or the duo Knower I was like "meh" and moved on.
But recently I stumbled across the Live 2019 concert and it totally ****ing blew me away. It might be the coolest, most fun concert video I've ever seen. I really dig how the songs are expanded upon, the tight af band, the amazing solos, all those little jokes and of course Cole's incredible drumming.

Spoiler for Live 2019:

After that I started checking out more of his solo stuff and ended up really liking it as well. I dig the silly humour, the dancing and am now even on board with the ballads, although at first they bored me.

Spoiler for Solo stuff:

I also got into Knower, his duo with Genevieve Artadi. I mostly enjoy them when they play as a full band. This **** slaps hard. Apparently the next album will also be a full band record and I can't wait for it to be released.

Spoiler for some Knower with a full band:

And of course there's Clown Core, which might be his most famous or infamous project. They are officially anonymous but evidently it's Louis Cole and Sam Wendel. This might be my least favourite project of his because it's a bit too gimmicky to really listen to but it's still fun and there are some clips I really enjoy and of course the musicianship is still ****ing impressive.

Spoiler for Clown Core:

Damn, Knower as a duo are tight af. What a trip.

Cole's Album 2 is the creepy modern lo-fi nocturnal Beach Boys album I never knew I needed.

Louis Cole as a jazz drummer is ridiculously amazing, although he is at times a bit too overwhelming in this acoustic set up.

My first time hearing any of this. Friggin tight.

Overwhelming drums still works.
At times the drums are the most sane whilst the others are going completely off the rails.
Love it. If there are any awards for best contemporary jazz performance on MB in 2022 then this vid gets my vote ^^

Why would he lie?

Sure works for me! Watching this on repeat. Hope he will do some recordings with this kind of band.

Amazingly funky.

Holy ****, this is beautiful and perfect.

I used to think this was somewhat dumb but now I realized I was dumb for thinking that. That **** is awesome and hilarious and a ****ing banger.
(And yeah, I'm just gonna continue this thread even if few care.)
