Default bands that should have gone on to better things

I'll nominate Big Country into this category.

They showed up after U2 who got all the fanfare so they fell by the wayside. I'd bet anyone here that the line up is better between the two and there music was better. U2 had an agenda, Big Country was just a band.

Haters come at me, I'm feeling rather hungry.

You're not going to get a lot of U2 defenders here. I don't like Big Country's sound so I'm respectfully bowing out.

I don't hate you. I barely know you.

...

Bob James made a killer free jazz record for ESPin the 60's and then went on to make the most tepid smooth jazz I have ever heard in my life.

Big Country got a lot of airplay with the release of their debut album and I remember a local TV station in my area hyping them up a bit with a review of the band at that time. They weren't bad and they had some good songs but they just never caught on with a wider audience the way U2 did back then.

War is easily superior to anything Big Country could've ever dreamed of producing. Achtung Baby is where it's at though

Achtung is good, always preferred Joshua Tree though.

Top 3 U2 Albums...

1. War
2. Achtung Baby
3. Joshua Tree

I like Rattle and Hum and Boy too but that's for another topic.
