Et Tu Brute

24 minutes of progressive screamo bliss. To my knowledge all they released was the demo and it's awesome, With One Last Look is my favorite song, and sadly they broke up in March.

I forgot what number it was but it's not on the myspace....but it;s probably one of the best screamo songs ever written.

swim 11-11-2006 10:06 AM

Unless you're talking about some track they only played at shows the song that's not on myspace is Favete Linguis and yea it's sweet as hell. I really wish this band released more. Anyone know what projects from them are to come?

I've only heard the stuff on their myspace and it's really amazing stuff.

swim 11-11-2006 01:57 PM

Ay, download their demo. It's only one more song than what's on myspace.

I spoke with them a while back and there was talk of them starting a new band with maybe 3 or so (or all) of the members, but to my knowledge nothing's happened yet :/

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 06-22-2007 02:26 PM

anyone know if this band does exist yet, if at all?

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 09-04-2007 07:05 PM

Another bump. Just four songs and they're so amazing. I searched the lyrics and they make me love them even more.

Also I read from their last.fm their next project is "Ian Otenti", ambient or something like that. Supposedly they suck bud I'd still like to hear it anyways. Does anyone have any music by them/know anything about them?

EDIT: Nevermind, I checked Et tu Brute's myspace and Ian Otenti are there on the friends list.

if you're interested: MySpace.com - Ian Otenti - NEW BEDFORD, Massachusetts - Classical / Minimalist / Other - www.myspace.com/ianotenti

Upon further inspection I realise it's just one member from Et tu Brute. meh.

anticipation 09-09-2007 01:06 PM

all things equal and with one last look are both amazing

they've been on heavy rotation for a week.

bardonodude 07-14-2008 03:25 PM

their myspace says 4/5 of the members have been writing new material for our next project, do any of you know what other project they have?

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 07-14-2008 03:48 PM

asked that question & seen it asked... only answer i've ever seen is ian otenti, one of the members solo ambient acts.

bardonodude 07-14-2008 04:12 PM

yea thats the only thing Ive seen as well

xcult_classicx 07-14-2008 06:36 PM

I thought post-rock influenced Screamo had been the trend for a while now. I havent found any great bands of this style the past 15 months besides Men As Trees, The Blue Letter, and maybe something else I'm forgetting. I miss Et Tu. But i mean, theres been plenty of bands of this style for a while now I thought. Or do you mean on a larger scale, maybe where it's the dominating sound?

xcult_classicx 07-14-2008 07:39 PM

not really, post-rock and screamo is a big thing already but there's something in bands like Et Tu Brute and Enuma Elis for example that sort of give american screamo the american screamo feel. i dunno how to explain it exactly, sorta like the way all european bands are either like Tristan Tzara, Raein and Amanda Woodward. Narrators have that new american screamo feel as well, i just can't hit the nail on the head as to how to describe it. it's not just the screamo+post-rock formula since bands like the Black Heart Rebellion for example don't carry that same vibe. gaah, i'm talking out of my ass

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 07-15-2008 12:58 AM

bitch narrators are CANADIAN

xcult_classicx 07-15-2008 06:37 AM

i know, but they really have that american screamo sound with em.

bardonodude 07-15-2008 01:36 PM

yea they do lol, I dont think Canada really has a screamo sound haha.

xcult_classicx 07-15-2008 05:43 PM

does One Eyed God Prophecy and Union Of Uranus count? then again, they may have listened to Systral and Morser, but yeah.
