Haha, I'm so sick of arguments about what is or isn't "emo".

To get back on topic: Yeah, screamo is dying. Most bands who were "screamo" have broken up or progressed to do more interesting stuff. The popular bands in the "scene" seem to be metalcore bands and that weird vocoder-pop stuff crap that's getting on Warped these days.

Probably the only band I still listen to from back when I liked that style is Alexisonfire. I guess you can still call them "screamo" since there's singing and screaming involved, but they come off more as a rock band to me. Plus, their sound has evolved so much in the past few years. I love 'em.

yeah I agree, basically the only good screamo bands left are alexisonfire and chiodos.

Ha. Alexisonfire sucks. And I used to be huge into them. Another one of those "first two album" bands before they started playing bigger venues and writing generic chord progression bore-tunes. I was nursing this hope that Young Cardinals would be decent but the single was sadly terrible imo. And if you daresay that Crisis was a good album I will pillage your ass with a longship.

I liked Crisis, but I believe it was inferior to their first two albums.

I like what I'm hearing these days, but their music could really lose some of that studio polish I think.

How do you mean about the studio polish? I think their songwriting has just tanked. Plus the vocals have gone downhill as well. I have to admit that it may be partially that I just grew out of them. I listen to what I consider more "complex" music these days, although I still get a kick out of the first two albums once in a while.

Ughh, you are cavemans friend. No doubt about that, and don't for a second think thats a good thing. alexisonfire is a good enough group who started off with humble yet solid beginnings. I think they are one of the most forward thining groups in their genre, and for that they should be commended.

I loved their beginnings. I listened to them religiously for several years, attended a ton of shows, own both first albums and a 7" single which is signed by Dallas Green, AND I actually interviewed him for the youth newspaper I worked for in high school. They WERE one of the most down-to-earth and accessible groups in the genre, until they released an album that sucked and started playing crappy shows. You didn't read what I wrote very well.
