need a break?

everybody here listens to emo and hardcore, but what do you guys listen to other than that? and what makes you listen to them when you can just listen to more emo and hardcore?

here's basically a clue.

all because i am a nostalgic indie art *** playing in a hardcore band.

bloodorflies 03-27-2007 01:46 PM

i basically listen to everything except new country music and techno...other than that there is something good about everything.

xcult_classicx 03-27-2007 01:46 PM

i like electro too. XD

bloodorflies 03-27-2007 01:59 PM

depends on how it's used....i like bands that use elements of it....like pitchshifter.

xcult_classicx 03-27-2007 02:00 PM

i actually do indie and electronica for this halfassed solo project. :P

bloodorflies 03-27-2007 02:03 PM

i do like to try and play jungle style beats on my drumset.

xcult_classicx 03-27-2007 02:05 PM

awesome :D

bloodorflies 03-27-2007 02:11 PM

kevinpunx 03-27-2007 07:15 PM

Outside of Hardcore and Emo I tend to listen to folk, which I've only recently gotten in to, and I listen to stuff that I liked before I liked Hardcore and Emo; mainly Indie and Post Rock stuff.

I've always loved Indie and Post Rock, it seems mentally stimulating to me.

chinoischaos 03-27-2007 08:23 PM

oh, im into pop-punk. and a very very very little of mathcore.

bloodorflies 03-27-2007 11:33 PM

thats it?

xcult_classicx 03-28-2007 05:05 AM

i tend to listen to Ratpack era stuff, you know, records by Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Marin, stuff like that. also some Cascades and Beach Boys. all because i believe that music is meant to be enjoyed as a whole, so long as it has substance and meaning. i also listen to indie and new wave just to bring in a different mood. :P

can_i_say 03-28-2007 06:17 AM

A lot of post rock, pop punk (not scene bands), some melodic death metal and thrash. I loath most dance music.

swim 03-28-2007 07:26 AM

I think its universal that emo kids like post rock.

chinoischaos 03-29-2007 02:17 AM

The Bananas and MOTO, anyone?

chickendude 04-02-2007 02:54 AM

I am huge on noise/drone stuff and increasingly getting into psychedelic folk/neofolk.

paengkee 04-02-2007 03:48 AM

blues, techno, house, jazz.

paengkee 04-02-2007 03:48 AM

mevsthesky 04-02-2007 06:14 AM

bauhaus.

bardonodude 04-02-2007 11:45 AM

werid bands like Captain Beefhart and Frank Zappa, Reggae, some ska, a few punk bands from when I was totally into it, like NOFX and Lagwagon, The Smashing Pumpkins. Anything rock Im into, even old R&B from the 50's and 60's. Also, I like some indie/electro bands. like The Faint, Clap Your Hands Say Yea, The Arcade Fire. Basically I like any music that has roots in blues, jazz, and rhythm and blues. No Rap, no current R&B, screw country music. yup I think that about covers it lol.

Trauma 04-02-2007 09:54 PM

I'll listen to anything I own.
Lately I've been into a lot of post rock, hip hop, jazz, classical, melodeath, and punk.
