Rockafella Skank 01-15-2004 07:34 AM

People have their own opinions. It's fine to like your own music, but you have to respect that other people have different tastes than yourself.

communication_drive 01-17-2004 01:34 AM

Yeah guys i understand ur point of view, but im peed off with all this commerical garbage on emo now er days. But its all these new bands which hav had respect for emo. They dont respect the piorneers of it all, and im kinda glad cos if they was would all b commerical garbage like it is 2day.

Theres my opinions so take it, and i no ppl who listen 2 old emo will agree with me

Communication, I was once like yourself, not very open-minded(no offense)...i understand what you mean, i agree to a degree, it is just how you are saying it that is wrong. Its cool to like your stuff, and you want others to like it to. I used to be against rap completely!! Eff rap blah blah blah.. i spent so much time putting down rap. Be greatful for the music in general. Just dont listen to the new emo. If you do like it and are just upset because of the name...i understand...with the whole punk rock kinda thing... i used to yell about how good charlotte isnt punk rock and all hat stuff. Im just trying to say be a little more open minded, speak your opinion, but please dont speak poorly of others and their opinions. Thankyou.

communication_drive 01-18-2004 01:26 AM

Thrice dude u aint never gonna get the point. Im not sating ur music is completly ****e. Cos they are obvioulsy musicly talented ppl as they hav dine well for them selves.

The point im tryin 2 make is that the way emo has come fashionable, it has in england every1 changed for metal 2 emo (nobs!!!!) but it is how the old bands get no respect for wot they did. But when the new bands which r classed as emo (r punk).

Now live with fookin view.

Man the point Thrice is trying to make is that he is the moderator of this board, an d he is trying to calm you down and teach you the rules.

Don't flame other posters.
And don't be mad when he warns you, if you deserve it, (which you did). He just wants to keep this place clean and pleasant. So rather than tellin people to learn a little about emo and then talk to you, just say you don't agree, and maybe even say why, and then leave it at that. You don't hagve to insult other people's intelligence.

Rockafella Skank 01-18-2004 05:53 PM

Let's get back on topic, people! :)

Recommend some of your favorite Emo! :yeah:

Emogirl 01-22-2004 11:43 AM

some emo: From autumn to ashes, poison the well, bright eyes,...

banonbush 01-22-2004 01:52 PM

FYI Taking back sunday, Thursday, Starting line are not emo. Don't get me wrong, they are very good bands (thursday is one of my all time favorites, and are now on tour with AFI!) All American Rejects and Rufio are more pop punk than anything. FRom autumn to ashes is screamo with extra brutal lyrics, and poison the well is more death metal/screamo. Once again, i like almost all these artists, but they aren't true emo. Check out Sunndy Day RealEstate, and piebald. Brighteyes is borderline, and old dashboard is good too, although iffy in the genre.

IamAlejo 01-22-2004 05:26 PM

Brand new....one of my favorites...you should check them out

copeland is another good emo band but they aren't too big

IamAlejo 01-22-2004 05:28 PM

a commdrive...what is emo? basically a form of punk rock music that has "emo"tional lyrics in them....so yeah, the bands he put are fairly emo. If you are talkin about screamo that is a whole nother ballgame. But maybe YOU should learn what YOU are talkin about before YOU sayin something to anyone.

Thrice 01-22-2004 07:53 PM

Banon i undersatand where you are coming from when you say they are not emo, I think they are, but they are in a smaller classification of emo. I call what you think is true emo, pure emo...it has a popish sound to it. But as said by alejo " basically a form of punk rock music that has "emo"tional lyrics in them"
Screamo is emo, but just a different kind.

Oh yeah and...Thanks guys for the backup...

banonbush 02-02-2004 08:27 PM

thrice, i agree with you up there. Yeah, i was meaning 'pure emo.' If you think about it though, most music does have emotional lyrics, so does that mean everything is kind of emo? Example: Andrew W. K. i pretty emotional about partying, so is he emo? I know he's not, but it's just an interesting thought.

kAnEdA 02-03-2004 05:21 AM

Some of my favs emo bands are: further seems forever, yellowcard, taking back sunday, midtown and specially my chemical romance (pwnage band), so check them out, wont dissapoint ya,

banonbush 02-03-2004 08:50 AM

anthm dying day - Yeah, i always thought about that, and ya, I am a 'dude' but that term is kinda generic anyway.

kAnEdA- Further seems forever, taking back sunday, and my chemical romance are very very good! the other two are sub-par in my opinion, but then again, that's just my opinion.

Everyone else - Saves the Day is pretty good emoish music. I really like them. The new cd is weird, but good. Also, the Anniversary is good, i don't what to call them exactly, but they rock. And how could we be forgetting The Getup Kids when talking about emo? What was I thinking? Oh well, they are a staple for the genre.
