Default Impetus Inter

is pretty sweet emo band from early to mid 90s. As far as I'm aware they released two 7"s in 94 and one full length in 96. I own Youth Jihad and it's my favorite 7", pretty sick insert filled with typical screamo pseudo intelligent stuff. It's one of the many good 7"s on Bloodlink records, Untitled Document I don't know much about this band. I can't accurately described how it sounds. Just sweet jams.

It's just really good spastic emo, the 7"s are far better than the full length (although the full length is great too). Kinda similar to a bunch of the other bands of that time period, Hose.Got.Cable comes to mind.

"RyanWreck
I'm in the mood for some crazy hard, screamy, rugged, crying all over the place, emo.

Something in the vein of Ipecac, Roosevelt, Reach Out, Wellington, Embassy, and Suicide Nation."

A heavier, harsher sound. The instrumentation is less intricate and more biting and...spastic.

Someone ripped their demo so I figured I'd share.
The Sound Of Indie

And they also did a few tracks for comps and I'm going to try to track them down.

How do bands like reach out get cast as emo? They are so all over the place I just don't see it. Melodic in parts sure but emo? I don't know thats just me.

I have Roosevelt's split with culture if that is the same band you are talking about. ( the one from Florida?)

It's all about the vocal style when you're referring to bands like Hose Got Cable, early Lincoln, and even Rice. Native Nod and Moss Icon were some of the first bands to really let loose on the mic within the genre, so when the pained shreiking was applied to raw Hardcore acts with melodic interludes, it was seen as an extension of emo (which is not to say that these bands are lyrically irrelevant... Heroin wrote some truly tortured lyrics).
What puzzles me is that you don't see Reach Out as emo... they're in the median of Emo and Hardcore Emo.
