Pig Destroyer are indeed one of the better Grindcore bands around today and Lymphatic Phlegm are pretty good too but like a lot of music it becomes highly repetitive and I tire of it after 20 minutes or so.
I have seen many of the first Grindcore bands numerous times: Napalm Death Extreme Noise Terror Terroriser Carcass and some bands that had elements: Cerebral Fix Bolt Thrower Genital Deformities |

Getting to page two with no mention of Repulsion or Nasum is sort of odd as I've always found them to be pretty staple. Siege also needs mention as they were one of the most experimental bands the genre has ever seen.
As for "microsongs" the kings are probably Gruesome Stuff Relish followed closely by Mumakil. |
Insect Warfare are awesome too bad they are no longer around.
Napalm Death has cool riffs but their vocals are goofy. Phobia, Birdflesh, Poser disposer, Magrudergrind thats most of the grind I've been listening to lately. |

I'm mildly familiar with Genghis Tron, and the few songs I have by them I like, and I've seen them labeled cybergrind, but judging by other bands I've heard (AC, Napalm Death), they don't sound that grind to me.

Napalm Death are OK. I get the urge to listen to them maybe once a year. Other than that, this genre bores the hell out of me.

i could never get into magrudergrind or napalm death or any of the beginning grind outfits. Discordance axis is always good though

Some incredible grind albums happening in 2008:
Captain Cleanoff - Symphonies Of Slackness (best grind album in years) Agenda Of Swine - Waves Of Human Suffering Maruta - In Narcosis Exit Wounds - Exit Wounds Kill The Client - Cleptocracy Gridlink - Gridlink Fans of Discordance Axis should check out Gridlink; Jon Chang's on vocals and the chaos has been doubled. |
