Default Early Post-Hardcore

Yes, early post-hardcore, not the screamy, growly new stuff (Alexisonfire, Silverstein, which is good stuff too by the way).

I decided to give a few bands a whirl and found myself enjoying the music of Fugazi and At The Drive In.

Can anyone provide some not-live youtube videos of other early-post hardcore stuff similar to ATDI and Fugazi.

I got into this stuff because I'm into punk/emo/hardcore/indie music.

Post-Hardcore has three big elements I look for in punk music. Catchiness, Energy, and Freedom (which it excels in). It's really unique stuff.

Discuss and reccomend.

check out some of the live videos of Drive Like Jehu on youtube.

I know you asked for nonlive vids but seriously, listen to "Caress" and "If It Kills You"...so much unbelievable concentrated energy and talent. I would recommend checkin' out both of Jehu's albums as well.

also try Nation of Ulysses, Jawbox, Moss Icon, Clikitat Ikatowi and early Unwound.

Yeah....you could call them noise rock, or even math rock if you must. There's definitely a distict hardcore influence though, and they definitely qualify as a "post hardcore" band.

None of that matters though, they just rule. Hot Snakes too.

Um....

Quicksand
Shudder To Think
Hot Water Music

I think "Sirens" the album by On The Might Of Princes is a post-hardcore release too. It isnt early post-hardcore, but it's worth a listen.

Post Hardcore in my opinion is very wierd. Punk rock is what it is. Metal is what it is. Post Hardcore scares me. The music is great. The lyrics and bandnames are what makes me freaked.
