Emo, or Screamo?
 

What do you prefer?

I like the harder stuff more, like Alexisonfire and Thrice, compared to stuff like Dashboard.

I got to thinking about this when I was comparing different songs by The Used. Their hard songs are so much better!

Screamo a.ka. Emocore

I like Dead Poetic
Story of the year
The Used
Funeral for a friend
Emery

and so on.

The "Hard Songs" from The Used I prefer also, but I always can change my mood when I listen to all the others just because I like them *g*!

Depends on my mood.

emo is screaming. therefore it is screamo. dashboard is not emo. story of the year is not screamo.

At one point in my life I did like screamo. However, I was introduced to many other bands which led me away from the screamo type. I'm going with emo, because if I want to hear anything harder than that....I'd much rather prefer a punkrock/hardcore based vocals.

Dashboard Confessional
Rainer Maria
Braid
etc....

if they scream and such isn't it screamo...Hmmmm, I like a bit of both...softer and screamo. And David how does a band need to scream to be defined as emo?? it's like if they don't scream...they're pop...???

I perfer heavier "emo" to lighter "emo" if thats what you mean. I like Underoath more than DC. And David I know they're not old emo so that automatically means they suck but whatever

no, most of the bands i listen to are current. a band sucks if it sucks. hence, underoath

Quit judging other poeples opinions just because they like a band you don't. Maybe you think a band "sucks" that doesn't give you the job of bitching and crying of nothing.

emocore? that is the stupidest thing that iv seen all day. and i saw my friend run into his front fence(8ft tall, driving towards it. youd think he'd see it) frost is judging "emo" by what it initially was. which, if you think about it, makes a lot of sense. theres bands that still play the original format, if you will, and those that dont arent necessarily bad. but evidently it annoys frost somewhat when they are. and, as im referring to frost continuously in the third person, covle can understand what he means.
now lets all have a great big group hug, deep breath, and a good scratch.

Both, definetly. I listen to one, then the other to offset my moods, or to get me into a mood. :)

story of the year is awesome but its not emo but they are great. i liked the used alot. I dont like any of the whinny emo.

Screamo shows power. Emo shows nothing. Screamo is tons better.
