You're either ignorant or just plain stupid.

bungalow 04-07-2006 07:19 PM

Who is?

sleepy jack 04-07-2006 07:19 PM

This n00b had posted saying Hawthorne Heights invented emo.

bungalow 04-07-2006 07:20 PM

Oh, why are all his posts deleted?

sleepy jack 04-07-2006 07:22 PM

Cause he posted like 20 times (he filled the entire first page with last posts by..) saying either completely stupid shit, or just plain useless spam.

bungalow 04-07-2006 07:23 PM

Was he a spammer from myg0t, or was he genuinly uninformed about the genre?

sleepy jack 04-07-2006 07:24 PM

I don't know if he was from myg0t, but he had the same intentions as they did.

bungalow 04-07-2006 07:25 PM

Man, I wish I was here......damn work cutting into my alone time.

bungalow 04-07-2006 07:52 PM

Haha, I just read through this thread, pretty funny.
The thread is to educate people about emo music, so some posters come in, and agree that people are misinformed about emo. They then procede to 'prove' that these people are misinformed in their opinion that all emo is about cutting yourself, by saying 'I have listened to the used, and not all the songs are about cutting yourself'.......did that person even read the first post? F*cks sake

Punk will never and it can never be about breaking up with girls or sad stuff. See guys what happend is that some bands somewhere in 1983 tried to bring emotional songs through punk and thats what we call Emo. Emo is everything against punk because punk is anger and emo is sadness. SO yes " EMO IS NOT PUNK NO MATTER WHO THE **** TOLD YOU THIS, WHO EVER TOLD YOUT HIS GO BEAT THEIR ASSES WITH A STICK. PUNK IS ****ING ANGER AND VOLUME AND GET THAT STRAIGHT.

I beleive that is what Death Metal is for.

sleepy jack 04-08-2006 05:19 PM

So the ramones aren't punk?

I know, I was reffering to the post you quoted, not you. He treated it like all punk had to be angry and last time I checked Blitzkrieg Bop wasn't some anger driven song. Same with the Queers, Misfits, and alot of other classic punk bands.

Muzak 04-08-2006 06:08 PM

I see, and I agree. That is a good point.

My.Heart.Your.Hands 05-09-2006 05:57 PM

Uhmm.. a question:

so the only important thing in a emo band is its songs letters and the sound? Or when you define an emo band you must consider another thing such as their look, their actitude, their lifestyle, etcetera?

REMEMBER: ITS ONLY A QUESTION!
[I must say that always cause i see a lot of problems in this forum so i dont want to be in one for a little question ^^]

(and sry for my english, I speak perfectly spanish, pero no hablo muy bien ingles =P)

Yep, fashion has nothing to do with the actual genre of the band. Its all down to sound.

pravda01 05-11-2006 12:10 PM

wtf?

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 05-11-2006 12:49 PM

^want to explain this post before I delete it?

sleepy jack 05-11-2006 12:53 PM

Anyone else kind of find it funny in the sub-genre part it has "emocore" which is a shorten version of saying emo hardcore, and they also have hardcore emo?

dischord 10-22-2010 12:04 PM

Sorry to bring back a thread from the grave, but... I found it kind of odd that in a "history of emo" both Minor Threat and Embrace are mentioned (great bands), but there's no mention of Fugazi anywhere. Other than that, interesting post. Can't say I agree with it all but it's more accurate than most people's accounts.
