last half fits more into Powerviolence.

Dashboard Confessional is not real emo. It is pop music hiding behind the label emo.

Powerviolence is intense, raw form of Hardcore Punk.
It is a sub-genre of Hardcore Punk.

BastardofYoung 07-04-2011 12:59 PM

yeah, owes as much to Grindcore as it does Hardcore.

I like Fugazi, Drive Like Jehu,Circa Surive, and Saosin (w/Anthony Green). Any recommendations?

Now, I don't really know any of the bands you listed, however, I am a fan of Minus The Bear, and I can tell you, they are most definitely not post-hardcore.
I don't like to nitpick with genres, like some users do, but they have a completely different sound, they're more experimental indie/math rock.
