what are your thoughts on this?

What do you think the trend has been since MTV first came into play in the 80's? Yeah and honestly, what makes you different from everybody else that listens to emo? What? You probably drink, smoke, and cry in a corner like millions of other people who listen to emo. Do you sit in your bed at night and while listening to Dashboard Confessional think you've discovered the meaning of life like in some Disney movie? Get Real....if you want a new genre that not many people will know what the hell you're talking about when you discuss it with them...listen to old techno bands..then you'll be "original".

Nope, most kids listen to what woos their emotions. If you look to the people that watch MTV most like the "bling bling" and the rap stuff.
Now I'm not saying that what always woos someones emotions is emo or anything..just, the larger majority of teens fit into that "not very popular" category and try to be "original" by not listening to popular stuff.

Totally agree

do you actually talk about the music in this emo forum? every thread i read is a display of the hatred for this new wave of "emo". it pisses me off if they do not actually have a clue about the genre of music they "listen" to and they just wear the uniform.

No, hence why I hardly post in here now. Its more of a 'scene' forum than a music forum sometimes...

The whole "I must be an Emo because it is so totally cool!" is a big thing over here in England and it makes me sick to hell!
I was an Emo way back before all of that and I dont do it to be "cool!"

Sneer 04-07-2005 10:46 AM

well congratulations to you.

emo_is_my_life 04-07-2005 10:53 AM

i love emo. i always have and always will. like what most people have said if you dont like it than just dont listen to it. you shouldnt let what other people say or do get to you. if people are going to just listen to a certain genre to be "cool" than thats thier problem. but if you listen to it because its what makes you you than more power to you. i mean i listen to almost everything but rap because i just dont like it. well i dont really no what else to say but be yourself and have fun doing it.. .even if you are the only one doing it.

Why would someone else liking what you like bother you? Are you the kind of person who gets mad when someone has the same shoes as you?
