The Mineral Tour History Project
 

Hi, all -

I am undertaking quite a large project: to somehow assemble a history of Mineral's live shows during their three-year existence (1994-1997), and a listing of recordings made during those performances. Think a sort of Nirvana Live Guide, but Mineral style!

Once I get a reasonably-sized collection of dates and information, I will put together a website on which the information will be listed.

I am here to ask if any of you have any information about Mineral's tour dates, or have copies of recordings made during those dates? I currently have the following recordings on DVD:

I don't know that I can really help you, but this really cool and I admire your undertaking such a project. I think Mineral is a really good band, though I can't stand what I've heard of Pop Unknown. The guy's voice just got way too deep..I couldn't really take much of it. Maybe I'll like it more next listen.

The only relation to Mineral that Pop Unknown has is that Gabriel Wiley, Mineral's drummer, became the drummer of Pop Unknown post-Mineral. Pop Unknown's singer is/was a fellow named Tim Lasater, while Mineral's singer is/was Chris Simpson. Simpson went off to form The Gloria Record with Jeremy Gomez, Mineral's bassist/ex-bassist. Simpson was the singer of The Gloria Record, not Pop Unknown.

Therefore: the guy's voice didn't get too deep - it was an entirely different singer. :)
