Holy, Jibs. Very nice. I was trying to listen to the lyrics to add something meaningful to this thread but kept getting distracted by the catchy bass line. Good job!

haha, thanks everyone. i was gonna put some stuff in about the video, but then i didn't have the time, so i'll do it now. I think that the immages in the video are symbolism of how everyone is prone to being manipulted if the right tirgger is used, for alot of people, this happens to be the opposite sex. It's set in a bar, a sort of cliche location of where people hook up and meet new people. everyone is kind of doing the same thing, mimicking each other's actions etc. also there are a few images of lambs. I think the lines in the song "he is the lamb, she is the slaughter" is kind of reffering to how he has been led into the whole ideal that sex is a part of growing up, a kind of rite of passage, that has to happen when you're young ( "where the act becomes the art of growing up" ). this girl, his friends, pretty much his whole social circle have led him to believe that sleeping with someone is a necessary part of a mature relationship, or rather a sort of measuring stick in the relationship. "she is the slaughter": she has driven him to substitute his own ideals and morals (wheather consciously or subconciously) for those of others. eventually, this pattern of just going along with popular belief and opinion eats away at the person you are, or "slaughters" the person you are. the whole video and the song kind of deal witb the fact that this whole pattern of being manipulated is basically unavoidable. think about it, how many times have people compromised their standards to be with someone? i wish i could say I haven't, but i have. i'm not pround of it, but luckily I realized my mistake and it's mow used as an example of why not to let it happen again. what I get from the song however, is that no matter how much you tell yourself you wont let someone manipulate you, or lead you to compromise your beliefs, it will happen. it's an inevitable fact of life. a pretty pessimistic view in my opinion, but i still haven't decided or not weather its true.

Haha, DJ Jester. Yes, the bass line is very catchy. It almost makes me want to play bass instead of guitar....almost.

Anyway, I heard the song was about a guy being sort of raped, but I like what jibber had to say better.

That song is my probably my favorite on the whole album.

pour salt in your wounds

Jibber, gol you hit the nail right on the head... hard

As a female the first time i heard this song i was irritated and almost felt violated by the lyrics- "how could they make a statement about females using males.. its more COMMON for guys to be the ones that brag to their friends about cherry popping... they're the a** holes" (this was an initial reaction), then i looked up the lyrics and realized that this song is more about tragic youth, than some girl using some guy.. its about revenge and loss of innocense. Its about human nature.. GOL ..brand new rocks my world!! (haha)
The album as a whole presents conficts within relationships, friendships, and society.. its vengfull and despart..bleeding, pouring salt in your wounds...

I'm pretty sure the only meaning is the kid losing his virginity.

"Such as in Sic Transit Gloria…Glory Fades it deals with a boy losing his virginity, but not really wanting to at the same time and the repercussions of his choice that night, 'He's the lamb, she is the slaughterer, She's moving way to fast and all he wanted was to hold her.' "

he is a lamb*

I always saw it as the girl would be the one unsure about losing her virginity too quickly but in the song it seems to be reversed. It's basically dealing with all the pressures that young people have to go through to make their way in this modern world.
"hear a boy bracing tight against sheets barely whispering...This is so messed up"
And
"She's moving way to fast and all he wanted was to hold her"

its an awesome song... the video is pretty freaky.

i think the dude was unsure of himself having sex with her.. losing his virginity and where she seems to already know what she's doing in the sex world.. and he doesn't.. i guess he would kind of feel like he has to be good.. he has to be as good as most guys are expected to be.. well you know what i'm saying.. he felt he had to live up to the expection's of the rest of the group.. but when the time comes he wants it.. but is unsure.. of how to do it.. and if he really wants to do it with her.. because he wants more and doesn't know she wants.. and he seems like the senseitive type of guy.. that if he says he really cares about a girl he really does.. and won't use it to get into a chicks plants... he wants more then sex.. even tho if sex is there he will take it.. but it will make him nervis.. and scared... worried that he could some how fail her.. even tho.. she knows its his first time and she seems like she'd do the work... but ya... thats my thoughts..
