Emo Music Videos.

Do you think music videos are important in the 'emo' genre?

EDGE 05-28-2005 10:40 PM

music videos aren't important period.

Even if an emo band did have a music video, doesn't mean it has to be mainstream and go on MTV. Their music video could only be on their site & not even released.

it would still be about the music and not the video

Sometimes you can really get alot across as far as the meaning and vibe of the song using a video. But as is stated, it should be about music and the song rather than the band and the image.

^this is true, and yes sometimes videos help you understand the song better. i dont think that videos are important necesarily to this genre alone or any other, they are simply an added bonus.

I don't think I've ever seen an emo music video and probably never will.

I have to admit Yahoo Launchcast plays a lot of Emo videos, for exam Simple Plan and Yellowcard. And rather annoyingly I did want to see what happened in the video's so I listened and watched and got a little bit into it! So in a small way those video's were important.

But no matter what the genre music is music (even if it doesn't sound like it to others) and these guys to have a meaning to get across and as said above the videos help with that... probably

not to be "genre anal" but yellowcard and simple plan arent what is considered emo. at least not in these forums. be careful of that here or you will be eaten alive
