by the end of the movie, at this finishing school, they said something like, "let us mourn for the loss of mr. neil perry"

I love you, I knew that name sounded familiar every time I heard it.

The "riffs" are in no way unorthodox. There's nothing really special about them, he plays them quickly and it just comes across as pretentious. And everything really just seems to clash, the vocals don't match the instrumentation (they hardly even match themselves) and the lyrics are incredibly unoriginal. Their guitarist is the only thing people really have good things to say about, and honestly none of the guitarwork is that interesting; you can argue that it's technical, but I find it incredibly boring. I mean, there are certainly bands out there that are worse, but there are plenty of bands that are better... You like what you like, I'm just surprised that so many people here like them.

Sorry, the fact they aren't the same lame solos you hear in most musics made me think they were unorthodox. I really don't see how the vocals don't match the instruments or the thoms riffs don't fit good. Care to explain?

The vocals are just... annoying, really. I'm not a huge fan of that singing style (sing, yell, sing, yell) anyway so maybe it's not my place to say. The only real emphasis seems to be on the guitar, and that reminds me of something a high school metal band would write. Sure, he can play quickly, but I don't find the succession of notes interesting.

Them being annoying is subjective, I think Thom has a great voice and most Rush fans would probably agree. And wow, I wonder what the high school metal bands are like where you're at.

I did a celebrity recognition thing online, and I apparently look like Yaphett Kotto (56%). Just thought everyone would like to know.

+ emo scene points.

And yes, I realize the band named themselves after him. And yes, I also realize he is black, but I'm black too.

xcult_classicx 02-01-2007 02:41 AM

i'm asian, does that give me scene points for anything?

swim 02-01-2007 05:41 AM

That definitely gives you negative scene points.

xcult_classicx 02-01-2007 07:05 AM

even if you slightly resemble Tetsuya from Envy?

Trauma 02-01-2007 01:34 PM

You're racist, not all asians look alike.
AHHHH!!!!!!
