Any bands that sound similar to Bane/Comeback Kid?

Not punkish as in "i hate my government blah blah blah oi oi oi" bull****. Like faster almost hardcore. haha.

Electric Ocean 07-28-2005 01:11 PM

Those bands are hardcore, positive melodic hardcore, but hardcore none the less. and check out Champion and you might like Go It Alone too.

Trauma 07-28-2005 01:23 PM

7 Seconds, The Descendents, NOFX, Agnostic Front?

I really don't know wtf you mean by blah blah blah I hate my government.....
So there you go bitch.

Maybe check out Rise Against and Anti-Flag too?

No wait, that's the blah blah stuff nvm.

Electric Ocean 07-28-2005 01:29 PM

I think he means that he wants more melodic hardcore, not punk. And yeah, he might be into some older hardcore like 7 Seconds and Agnostic Front.

daytonasurf 07-28-2005 01:34 PM

Ah yes melodic hardcore, thats what I was thinking of. Agnostic Front is pretty good too

Fenixpunk 07-28-2005 02:00 PM

melodic hardcore (not emo though) =
Malignus Youth - More To It

Trauma 07-28-2005 02:09 PM

FINALLY I heard some of this Malignus Youth you talk about.
Very nice!
I LOVE it, lol.

Fenixpunk 07-28-2005 02:12 PM

theres a couple more on page 5 in the song thread

Trauma 07-28-2005 03:12 PM

Yeah I downloaded them now.

cool another forum for me. Melodic hardcore is a subgenre of Punk, and many of those bands are political. Bane is better than comeback kid, but they both kick ass. Rise Against Owns them all though. they're political, but its intelligent and about a 3rd of their songs aren't political anyway. you should also like Death Threat. they're pretty good.

Silent Drive. Someone from Bane is in it, and it's pretty damn good. Listen to 4/16

That is the person whom you are recommending this stuff too. Clearly, he's not going to see it.

acratertocoffin 01-23-2007 10:21 AM

...damn you thread bumps that I don't pay attention to.

can_i_say 01-23-2007 10:41 AM

Melodic Posi/Youth Crew you would probably like:
Set It Straight
Carry On
Gorilla Biscuits
Betrayed
Signs Of Hope

Melodic Hardcore/Punk you should like:
Dag Nasty
Strike Anywhere
Ignite
Crime In Stereo
A Wilhem Scream
Marathon
Lifetime
Kid Dynamite
Set Your Goals
Ambitons
Energy
Someday Somehow

acratertocoffin 01-23-2007 10:50 AM

So apparently someone went searching for threads on Bane, and since no one talks about them here, the closest ones were that CKY show one, and this one. Great.

Bane is good. i have their last two CDs and a few tracks off the first full length. Give Blood is awesome. espicailly "ante up" and "sunflowers and sunsets" rise against is good too, but they went soft and radio-pleasing last album. i have all of theirs. the first two were the best: "the unraveling" which had "401 kill" and "everchanging" and revolutions per minute: "black masks and gasoline" and "to the core" and i'm tired of people trying to pigeonhole music into all sounding the same. its hardcore punk. the inclusion of melody or straight edge or metal guitar is what keeps the bands interesting. sorry, had to rant.

can_i_say 01-25-2007 07:39 AM

Well if we did that, why not loose the hardcore punk label and just call it punk? Labels tell us which bands sound alike. Even when we do pigeonhole bands, it doesn't mean that they will sound indentical, it simply saying that they have common ground. Ignite and MLIW for example, both have been labelled Melodic Hardcore, but have distinctly different sounds.
