Would Oasis sound more dated now or The Smiths 10 years ago?

So out of Oasis (mid 90s) and The Smiths (mid 80s), would Oasis sound more dated compared with the current charts, or would The Smiths have sounded more dated 10 years ago compared with the charts of the mid 2000s? Obviously The Smiths sound older than Oasis, but I wonder because of the rapid changes to the charts in the past 10 years (you no longer get rock/indie in the charts), and the fact that bands such as Interpol (heavily influenced by Joy Division and 80s indie) were having hits in the mid 2000s.

Morrissey's voice is so early-80s that The Smiths have been carbon dated. Without him I don't know though.

I actually feel like Oasis were much more a product of the times and not in a good way like The Smiths who carved their space with pure originality. The Smiths defined and pioneered their sound. I say The Smiths hold up better, are far more timeless, and while maybe not on "the charts" Smithlike bands still end up on end of the year top 100 lists from sources like Pitchfork and Wire.

The Smiths are inimitable. They embody a certain sound—smooth, snarky, and a little pretentious. It's timeless.

Johnny Marr's guitar playing is even more dated than Morrissey's vocals.

Oasis sounded dated when they first came up in 1994. The Smiths have always sounded classic and never dated.
