Anyone know what Undercover of Darkness is about?

Laser 05-10-2011 11:28 PM

No but I love the new album. Undercover of Darkness is incredible and I really like "You're so Right". I've heard some really good albums that came out this year and this is one of them. =D

By Julian himself:

“It’s about someone who works in the military, and has a girlfriend. It’s cheesy, I guess, but it’s about having to leave a loved one. I weirdly like the bridge and the chorus of that Clarence Clemons song [‘You’re A Friend Of Mine’, a 1985 duet with Jackson Browne, and US Top 20 hit –’80s crap pop ed]: (sings) “Years may come and goooo!” So that was the vibe we were going for. I shouldn’t confess to these things!”

Angles has grown off of me a little bit since it came out, but it's still a great album and much better then many people give it credit for.

I'm surprised at how much Angles have turned on poeple to the Strokes finally after all this time. It is a great amalgamation of their sounds, but i still think they should be enjoyed as a whole - all 4 albums in

Angles is a good album, but it sounds completely different from what The Strokes originally sounded like, and in that aspect I don't like it.
I think that as a Strokes album, it isn't all that good, but as an album standing on it's own it is pretty amazing.
I'm quite taken to Taken For A Fool.

I've only heard The Strokes first album in Is This It? but I admit their gritty sound is very well done. I also love how the vocalists (something Casablanca's?) voice fits in well with that sound.

I should probably catch up on a few more of their albums, to see if they lived up to their debut.

People tend to disagree with this, but I think that Room On Fire is even better then ISI.

^well, all that matters is that you believe it.
