Where did you get it?
How do I get it?
Why can't you up it?

Last I heard, it comes out in January 07.

swim 10-22-2006 03:10 PM

What's it called?

right-track 10-22-2006 03:11 PM

'Wincing The Night Away'.

right-track 10-22-2006 03:13 PM

It's out on January 22nd...but you losers get it the day after. :D

Pink Moon 10-30-2006 02:40 PM

Just what you think they'd put out. However I'm not complaining.

right-track 10-30-2006 05:09 PM

I was both pleased and dissapointed.
Pleased that it's more of the same and dissapointed that they didn't try something new and a bit more ballsy.
That's the Shins though....and like Pink Moon said, I'm not complaining.

Urban Hat€monger ? 10-30-2006 05:21 PM

I knew there was something I forgot to download

swim 10-30-2006 07:27 PM

It's not a bad album so liked said I'm not complaining but, yea, a little experimentation would be nice.

adidasss 11-30-2006 07:42 PM

OMGGGGG, I FUCKING LOVE WINCING THE NIGHT AWAY, SO MUCH SO THAT IT'S 4 AM RIGHT NOW AND I CAN'T SLEEP BECAUSE THEY'RE STUCK IN MY HEAD!!! ISN'T THAT AMAZING?!!? ISN'T IT?! GODDAMNIT, WHY DO THEY HAVE TO BE SO ADDICTIVE?!?! WHY LORD, WHYYYY?!? ( ok, i think i overdid it a bit there didn't i?)

swim 11-30-2006 07:44 PM

Yea it definitely grew on me I like way more than my first couple of listens.

adidasss 11-30-2006 07:48 PM

yeah, better than Chutes too narrow methinks, and equal to Oh inverted world even....yeah, that's right i said it!

right-track 12-01-2006 12:56 PM

My thoughts exactly ^

Mouseketeer 12-02-2006 07:42 AM

I love this band, I own all their albums. I've also got their latest one to be released in 2007, but I haven't listened to it much. This inspires me to go listen to it...

Not sure if I'd call them folk, exactly.

adidasss 12-02-2006 07:55 AM

yeah, they're straight up indie...
you haven't listened to WTNA much? and you call yourself a fan...;)

Mouseketeer 12-02-2006 08:01 AM

Yeah I know... but I have so much other stuff to keep me occupied. I'ma crack it on now, after some Do Make Say Think.

Thread moved to Indie...hopefully with no objections.

This mans voice...it haunts my head.
Unique, but I've heard 'this type voice' before...just can't put my finger on it.

Album cover art.

Mouseketeer 12-07-2006 04:11 PM

Oh I like their cover art, especially the one for 'Chutes Too Narrow' it's all cut away like a landscape and everything, so cool.

Merkaba 12-07-2006 05:30 PM

I might be the only one who can't get into them.

I think it's a bit too "nursery rhyme" like for me. The qwerky sounds on Red Rabbits and soft eerie jangles on tracks like Sleeping Lessons aren't quite me. The way the guy sings in some places reminds me of Jack White for some reason too, but theres nothing wrong with that.

right-track 12-07-2006 05:33 PM

The Beach Boys crops to mind when I listen...every time, but I can't figure out why.

I really like this band. They chill me out and quiet the mind.
The songs seem to blend seemlessly, from one to the other.

swim 12-07-2006 05:37 PM

I saw the art work for the first time yesterday and it's by far the best they've ever.

I so dig what you mean, it's like it's on some special "I will crawl inside your head and make you go insane" frequency. Unexplicably pleasurable. And the choruses with the backing vocals ain't helping much either. And doesn't Sea legs flow so incredibly? It's been playing in a continuous loop in my head for the past few days....no matter what I'm doing, it's in the background....if I ever lose it, I'm blaming The shins!

Agreed swim, the best album cover art they've had by far. I'm so getting this album when it finally comes out. I can already safely say it's one of the best in 2007.

Violet Cookie 12-09-2006 02:22 PM

Ooo I like this band! I have Chutes Too Narrow but must get my hands on a few more albums methinks.

Imonlydancing 12-10-2006 04:13 AM

i love love love the shins.

first song i heard by them was kissing the lipless.
new slang is my favourite song by them though.

Libquaker 12-11-2006 08:13 PM

I just downloaded kissing the lipless....urf...
The guys vocals just eviscerated my ears. The guitar is kinda simplistic... Same with lyrics.

Maybe it's just this song but... Ugh, not very good in my opinion. Definetely not indie, more alternative. So i guess it belongs here, but i don't think this is Indie. Or experimental.

my 2 cents

xerorane 12-13-2006 10:46 AM

the new cd(bit torrent) is spectacular
Sleeping lessons is the best song on the cd

shandapanda 12-18-2006 01:15 PM

'wincing the night away' is wanted by me! beautiful cover art...want to hear more

blackTshirt 12-19-2006 04:22 AM

i like em too
but i have like two songs, new slang and know your onion
i'm hoping i can download some more
i'm such a delinquent

MrsRussellBrand 12-20-2006 06:32 AM

Aaa 'So Says I', 'Kissing The Lipless' and 'Saint Simon' somehow magically appeared on my windows media player recently. I'll never know how, but I'm thankful as the Shins were a great discovery :] Might go out and buy 'Chutes too Narrow' soon xx

Freaky Styley 12-20-2006 11:11 AM

I love this band.

I have two of their albums;Kissing The Lipless and Chutes Too Narrow. I can't wait to get their new album.

Em, they have 3 albums, Oh, inverted world, Chutes too narrow and Wincing the night away. No Kissing the lipless on there....

right-track 12-20-2006 03:40 PM

True...it's on Oh Inverted World.

...I mean Chutes Too Narrow.

Here's the new album again (Wincing The Night Away) for those who missed it first time round.

akwaba 12-20-2006 11:36 PM

awesome

the shins r real awesome

Mouseketeer 12-21-2006 03:57 AM

Kissing the Lipless is on Chutes Too Narrow...?

I'm glad to see that a great band, who may not be the most popular creates such a stir. I'm sure the Garden State film did their credability a lot of good.

shandapanda 12-21-2006 12:24 PM

man, it might be the computer/internet issues i've had and yes, i know that i might seem like the biggest butt in history...you have that album already?
crazy

Freaky Styley 12-22-2006 12:07 PM

In the words of Ali G "Whateva."

shandapanda 12-22-2006 02:24 PM

yeah, but Ali G's funny....

Posher778 01-02-2007 01:54 PM

I love the shins. My favorite song is Kissing the Lipless. Followed by We will Become Silhouettes.

Mouseketeer 01-03-2007 10:20 AM

We Will Become Silhouettes, isn't that by The Postal Service?
