The Howling Bells

I've heard their single 'Wishing Stone' and I think it is pretty decent. Anybody else heard of them? What do you think?

You can listen to the song on their site Here

loving this band at the moment. i heard wishing stone about a month ago and it hasnt left my head since. very haunting, and atmospheric with a very sultry female vocalist!

coffeeshop 02-04-2006 09:11 AM

Yeah I saw it on MTV2 about a week ago, great stuff. I don't normally like the new bands they show but this one seems very decent. You heard any other material by them?

Sneer 02-04-2006 09:14 AM

i know they have the debut coming out very soon if it isnt already out now ,called liberation. ive also heard songs called velvet girl and low happening which pretty much adhere to the formula of low, brooding bass lines + frenetic, jangly guitar + sultry vocals = pretty decent music.

You can download Blessed Night here and I have just listened to Low Happening on their myspace. Both good songs as well.

Apparently Liberation is out in April.

i dont know whats happening at the moment, 3 good australian bands have hit me at once. tis a strange occurence.

explosions-in-my-pants 02-04-2006 10:16 AM

there alright..
i'm strange tho.. for some reason i'd rather male singers... there's not many bands out there i like with female singers.. although this chick really does have a pretty nice voice..

Bump....

Listening to the album now

Very Throwing Muses-ey :D

Piss Me Off 06-30-2006 12:32 PM

Totally awesome, contender for album of the year...

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-30-2006 12:34 PM

It`s in my top 5 so far this year.

But I do still have Hope Of The States & Sonic Youth to listen to yet

stakeraiser 06-30-2006 01:00 PM

I thought some of the album isn't bad

swim 07-06-2006 08:15 AM

Urban, can you upload the album? I've heard about five songs and so far they sound awesome . I usually don't like female vocalist that much she's very good.

Urban Hat€monger ? 07-06-2006 10:02 AM

ok , i`ll do it now :)

Alo 07-06-2006 10:41 AM

Have you heard Noise for Pretend, Rilo Kiley, Rainer Maria, or Stars?
All very good bands with female vocalists. I used to think the same thing, until I heard these bands. The Stars vocalists is Amy Millan, who's also in Broken Social Scene and just came out with a solo album.

Rilo Kiley = Yummy.
