Icons over talent?

what bands do you believe to be big merely due to their image and iconic status?

i was thinking exactly the same. though to be fair their lyrical matter at the time was quite groundbreaking.

I don`t mind them , I can see their influence , I can even see how groundbreaking they were.

But I only like about 3 songs an album.

I think a lot of the attention came from Warhol`s involvment

Had I the talent or the inclination then he'd have obviously been giving handjobs to two basketball players.

true. and i think a lot of their appeal stemmed from their dark, enigmatic stylings considering theirs was an era full of love, prosperity and hope. they completely antithesised that so you could say thats the iconic element.
