Flying Saucer Attack

Does anyone know/like this band? I guess technically they're a "post-rock" band, but they have a vocalist and some of their songs actually show semblances of song structures... In any case, they're very good, I recently got Further, their second album, and it blew me away. Very mellow, dreamy music.

Go buy or download or whatever floats your boat.

I'm not going to put favorite songs since I think they're a more album-oriented band rather than song-oriented.

mmm...priceless...as in good or bad?
Do I detect a hint of irony in there?
Like mirrorball I've never heard of them.

No not irony

It`s just really weird hearing it done as a post rock type song.

I quite like it

Edit: I uploaded it here if anyone is interested , no idea if it works or not.

I'm only really interested because of the name...alien obsession and such

Yeah I dig them.Their first album is their best.I like what they did with the folk song Sally Free And Easy on a single in `97.

Great band, I dig their sound. So far I only own a compilation called Distance, but I plan on getting their studio albums soon.

One of the most enticing front covers ever. And the album is exceptional too.

Mojo 03-25-2009 01:49 PM

Might help if we could see it eh, Stu? :bonkhead:

The cover fits the music perfectly.

I've listened to "Further" a few times but, it never really connected with me.

Farfisa 04-06-2009 10:04 AM

Well, I've given "Further" another listen and it finally clicked with me... their s/t is pretty good to but, it lacks an acoustic guitar.

cardboard adolescent 04-06-2009 10:05 AM

it's a great bed-time album

GravitySlips 04-06-2009 01:59 PM

I've been listening to Clear Horizon alot lately, really good collaboration between Dave from FSA and Jessica Bailiff. Very nice indeed.

I just recently got ahold of it thanks to someone who read a shout on LastFM... Really good stuff. Jessica Bailiff's solo stuff is really good too, I have "Even Silence" if anyone wants it.

Such a good song, it feels like my speakers are about to explode.

Zer0 01-25-2012 03:13 PM

'For Silence' is all kinds of awesome and sums up everything I love about FSA. Just listen to those last few minutes. Listen, LISTEN!

GravitySlips 01-25-2012 05:37 PM

For Silence is brilliant, indeed.

Come and Close My Eyes is my favourite by them.

I for some reason always stray from split releases, but holy shit, this is a gem. It starts out as a 60's 12 string affair, but dives into a super lush pool of reverb and delay. There was a recent FSA compilation (vinyl only) released full of rarities called "Heartbeat/Complete", and that's got a few gems on it too. It's limited to only 500 copies on spray painted covers.

What the hell is David Pearce doing these days anyway, is he still even involved in music? Can't find much info on him.

David quite literally fell off the face of the Earth after his efforts with Jessica Baliff. Believe it or not, I spent days looking to see what he was up to. Turns out he retired from music, and is now living in Gloucestershire. His friend Rocker can attest to this, and as far as what I've been told he has no interest to jump back in again. A shame really, but I dig the mystery behind his disappearance from the music world.

I listened to an unplayed, and sealed copy of "Further" the other day. It was pure magic, and it really sounded amazing as far as pressings go. David, wherever you are, I hope at least you're making music for your own enjoyment.
