Idiot Pilot

"Jarring and aggressive yet beautiful and melodic, Strange We Should Meet Here marks the debut album from Idiot Pilot, written, performed and produced by 18-year-olds Daniel Anderson and Michael Harris. Mixing electronica, post-hardcore and contemporary pop, the result is a potent, propulsive and powerfully original musical statement. A juxtaposition of emotionally charged music and the cold logic of electronic sounds, Strange We Should Meet Here heralds the arrival of one of today ’s most promising young bands. "

good god, they're only 18.....:(

p.s. thank you hookers, i like it....:)

i doubt you'd like it mate, it's sorta screamo meets radiohead meets death cab for cutie.....but it's fuckin brilliant....

....18.....why God? WHY?!?!

sleepy jack 02-26-2006 05:24 PM

I downloaded some songs, (adidasss forced me to under a death threat) and shockingly I liked it quite a bit, and will probaly purchase the album. The end.

IndiElectronica 02-27-2006 03:26 AM

they aren't bad... WB sent me their cd month ago and i put a few tracks on rotation...

a bit... childish overall, but they are only kids. Overall I'm expecting some good music from them as the years go by....

well ok, it's not a BRILLIANT album, but for 2 18 year olds i think it's pretty awesome....i still don't understand how you produce an album at 18....

IndiElectronica 02-27-2006 05:47 AM

i meant to say a few months ago (6 or so...).

It's been made for over a year... they had access to a studio and just went for it... the most surprising thing about them is they got signed to a major long before the album even came out!

adidasss 02-27-2006 07:32 AM

you're a lucky bastard, getting freebies like that....i want to be you...;)

IndiElectronica 02-27-2006 09:37 AM

:)

i still lose money monthly over all due to costs of the station though :(

in fact, WB did a promo with me (along with Rilo Kiley) and gave me 5 of each cd's to send out in a competition... will be a doing a few more like that in the next couple months I think... best to keep checking my homepage for info as I don't advertise my station really on the boards...

mate, i think you're in need of some serious redesigning, that might boost your visitor count. although, i don't really see how you could make money off it. maybe if your visitor count goes up you could get some advertisers? i have no idea how it works....your page has all the ingredients, and i'm sure you play some great stuff ( have to admit, i'm not a fan of internet radio, but i will definetly check it out cos you have good taste in music ), but your design belongs in 1996, not 2006.... to put it bluntly, the design is offputting and presentation is everything man....everything....

ladyluckrules 02-27-2006 11:36 AM

I listened to them a while back, yeah they're good, I love to buy a gun.
I think its the contrast between the smooth beat and voice of the singer and then the screaming and thrashing parts that i enjoy most.

i hear ya! my main focus is on the music and keeping the radio good... have had plans to move my web hosting for months but these things take time... Will be able to do online requests when i move to the new server too, which will be GREAT! Main problem now is that i've not been able to update my page for a couple months (again, a long story).

As for my html skills - they are HORRIBLE - and I happily admit it.... have a new lay-out and logo ready to go, but until i move or can update my site it's a mute point...

What i really need is someone to take over the web page and another to take over the message board to get it going... will see. Would love to get some album and live reviews going (as I'm offered a lot of free tix to concerts that i'm not able to attend (mostly london)) so that would need more people... problem there being they would have to have similar tastes to me and not sure how to determine that really... I'm even happy to get help with the playlist as I miss a lot of good music.

As for money making - it won't happen in the next year (if ever)... my hope is to get enough free cd's to make up for the loss... I'm effectively running two stations too, so that get's expensive.... MAY end up doing a paypal link for listeners to help pay, but not really interested in doing adverts tbh...

You would be surprised though the amount of traffic I do get - or at least I am :) I have a few hundred regular listeners these days... which is more than I ever hoped for and it's growing 30% a month so will keep it going so long as it stays (and gets more) popular...

anyways... i'm just one person and trying best as i can

i remember really liking "to buy a gun" about 8 months ago. and i still like that song. but everything else ive heard from them is average at best.

Imonlydancing 02-28-2006 01:14 PM

jambo 06-22-2006 08:46 PM

from what ive heard of them they seem to have thrown other band's styles together without really creating their own voice. But their eighteen, good for them.

yep. im guessing most people agree tbh, its the only standout track ive heard.
they're okay, i dont hate the rest, but i hate how occasionally i can hear traces of keane & kasabian. maybe that was just my bad luck of the draw with the other songs ive heard, but... yeah.
i dunno, theyre not awful. i just dont listen to em much. & wouldnt buy anything..

Glassjaw Fan 06-25-2006 05:25 AM

these are really talented because they fuse brutal screamings with ambient keyboard and laptop work. I dont think their work is childish i think they have talent beyond their years. if anyone hasnt heard them i would reccomend the day in the life of a poolshark or open register

jambo 06-25-2006 07:59 PM

Ever hear Blood Brother's "Crimes", they blend genre much most seamlessly, and their lyrics are a lot better

Idiot Pilot

I really don't know where to put this band. Recently got hold of the album STRANGE WE SHOULD MEET HERE by IDIOT PILOT, and I have found it to be unclassifiable, but in a good way!. The first time I heard it, I hated it, but damn; afew more listens-indie, screamo, electronica and rock are all bursting to get out.

Opinions? and please give it a few listens. Once is definitely not enough!

drainxthexframe 08-17-2007 03:15 PM

i fucking love this band. i am happy that wolves is just as good as strange we should meet here. i was kind of nervous because Retina In The Sky was on the transformers soundtrack so... yeah. it's so good, though! and i'm glad they're little. they ride dinosaurs and it's sexy.

too bad nobody can ever understand them, then. i think they sound like vultures circling dying cattle.

Bane of your existence 08-18-2007 05:45 AM

Is the name from Grandaddy?

drainxthexframe 08-18-2007 09:12 AM

no. its from a shitty bright eyes song. but i only created this account to piss off ethan... soyeah. i dunno is it? i can check? i have the entire discography.

Bane of your existence 08-19-2007 03:49 AM

I meant "Idiot Pilot"

I think there's a Grandaddy song with the same name on Software Slump.

Lyrics aside, the Blood Brothers and Idiot Pilot don't sound alike. But back to the lyrics, the Blood Brothers can write some god awful lines "theres a girl in a cage making love to a switchblade" and Crimes isn't even the Blood Brothers best album.
