Any of you guys into power-pop??
I've been listening to The Arlenes, Beaulah, The Bigger Lovers, Cheery Twister, Cotton Mather, The Inflatable Sharks and Farrah. Good stuff! And you can safely put your razor blades away until you play your next emo album! Any more power-pop reccies would be gratefully received. |

not sure what you are referring to about 'your next emo album either'. There aren't many emo fans on this board |

First off, I've just noticed two spelling mistakes, many apologies. The bands should have included Cherry Twister and Beulah!
Have a listen to the following. http://cdbaby.com/cd/cherrytwister http://cdbaby.com/cd/farrah http://www.amazon.co.uk/How-I-Learne...e=UTF8&s=music http://www.amazon.co.uk/Honey-in-Hiv...e=UTF8&s=music http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kontiki-Cott...e=UTF8&s=music Power pop is generally characterised by a pop sensibility, often with guitars and harmonies. The fathers of the genre were bands a la Beach Boys. My reference to emo was simply a (feeble) attempt to take the mickey out of a genre which encourages wallowing in one's own negative emotions. I've never understood the point, but each to his or her own! |
