Sisters Of Mercy

Any fellow fans here?

I've always loved the Floodland album personally.

Favourite tracks would probably have to be Lucretia, Flood II and This Corrosion and Driven Like The Snow (so pretty much the whole of Floodland!)

I find it pretty hard to take them seriously, but they're a fun listen every once in a while.

I have a soft spot for these and 'Floodland' is a particular fave. 'Vision Thing' was piss poor though and with the exception of 'Ribbons' the attempt at a more Rock orientated sound backfired badly. 'Afterhours' from the 'Body and Soul' 12" remains my favourite track. Wonderfully atmospheric and drone like.

I have a serious soft spot for them too and I have to admit I actually like Vision Thing quite a bit, though I like Floodland better. For a long time those to albums were all I really listened to by them but in the past couple years I've checked out some of their other stuff and I love a lot of it. And, damn, do they do a kickass cover of "Gimme Shelter".

They also put on a hell of a live show.

I like them. It is rare that I have ever purchased greatest hits albums but I found theirs in a bargain bin for not very much so grabbed it on speculation. I was impressed. Ofra Haza had a seriously good voice and they used her very effectively.

Floodland is great, definitely the better album by Sisters... then again, I do love Patricia Morrison.

I must admit I enjoy Vision Thing as well. Doctor Jeep was stuck in my head for quite some time.

Sisters of Mercy were good up to about Floodland, I like a lot of their early ep's Body & Soul ect.

Never knew this thread existed.

I like everything up to Floodland as well. Vision Thing had two or three good songs but I'm not too keen on the hard-rock direction they took on that album. Floodland sounds a bit dated today but the bombastic, over-the-top production still never fails to amaze me. My favourite material would be the early stuff collected on the Some Girls Wander By Mistake compilation. Songs like 'Alice', 'Body Electric', 'Kiss The Carpet', 'Temple of Love' and their cover of 'Gimme Shelter' are all amazing.
