You can't hate Wesley, you're luck he's dead or his schizophrenic ass would have killed you.

BUMP

This guy is awesome. I've got Spookydisharmoniousconflicthellride (Its under The Wesley Willis Fiasco), absolutely mental stuff, never heard such obscene lyrics in my life. Really good musicianship too.

ok here's a great wesley willis story.
this was about hmmm...12 years ago or so. i was jamming with my friend jason peasant. rip jason.miss you guy...
and wesley willis was sleeping on the couch. it was like this studio set up in the burbs of detroit. so wesley wakes up right?
there are a bunch of us partyin and playin music etc.
he wakes up after like grunting for a bit. when he moved we all stood really still like he was a bear awakening from a deep slumber.scaaaary. i mean wesley willis was a very very large man. coulda been a pro wrestler fer sher.
anyways he comes on over and starts like grabbing some of the dudes by the backs of their heads and headbutting them.
and he would yell rah! say rah!!! rah!
so they are all like rah rah rah
and i am like nah nah nah i dont freakin think so.
i avoided eye contact believe me. this was his thing i guess. this head butting thing. he had a permanent like dent or somethng in the middle of his forehead. so anyways. we party all night. and the next night he was playing at this sweet little record store. needless to say we went to party with the rockstar.
lol
we get there and there he is ever looming over tiny looking people and signing autographs. so i walk up to him ..and was like hey wesley how you doin man? and he looked at me and was like...wanna buy a cd
?
lol

that is my wesley willis story.
he was a really interesting man to say the lease. i feel he was exploited. but at least he got to enjoy himself a bit along the way.
rip to you too wesley.

so many friends gone.

Brilliant, very interesting guy indeed. I agree with the exploitation. Yet as you say, he enjoyed himself along the way and we were left with some pretty excellent music.

Thank Howard Stern for the explotation. It was funny as anything. But by no means brillant.

BUMP!!!

I was looking to see if there was a thread on Wesley Willis, or I was going to make one.

I am a huge fan of Wesley, and not just in the laugh at him type of way.. I have watched documentaries on him, and like to watch interviews and all.. To me Wesley is an important figure in the world of rock n roll, as well as outsider art. He was an excellent artist, this video is amazing:

Wesley to me is a case of a perfect case of showing to the world, the impact of music and the arts on people with mental illness, how a person who came from nothing, who came from a broken home full of abuse and personal horrors... could come up and influence and impact the pop culture in a way not many have not. He, Daniel Johnston, The Kids of Widney High and others to me are something I take great interest in.

I think to understand Wesley you really have to know his past... I recommend watching this three part documentary on him before anything else.

very well made and put together with love, it really does give history into the man, and to see there was so much more to him than just vulgarity.

This is Wesley at his most autobiagraphical:

Wesley lived for his art, he breathed it... he is, no matter how much some wanna say it or admit it, an artist. In every regard.

BastardofYoung 06-14-2011 01:36 PM

I watched this earlier to... haha....

To give a slight bit of context to this song before anything, because these ones can be taken out of context... Wesley's songs like this were directed at his demons, he wrote these songs because he said it grossed them out, and they would leave him alone when he played them. If somebody is not familiar with these songs in that context, it is just vulgarity to them.

I like this video and the time the person took to make it:
