Kasabian
Anyone out there like these guys? Probably only going to have been the British contingent that have so far, as their debut album is not out until the middle of this month, but I'd recommend anyone who likes their music to have incredibly eclectic influences to check these guys out.
They're from Manchester, which gave the world The Smiths, New Order and the whole "Madchester" scene of the early 90's, and their sound varies from guitar driven rock through electronica seamlessly. Try and get hold of "Reason is Treason", "Processed Beats" and "Club Foot" if you can, I don't think you'll be disappointed. They are excellent live too. |
Yeah Ive heard of them Frans. I listen to Storm radio on Sky and they're plugging them all the time. Im still a bit undecided on them at the moment. Funny that you say they're from Manchester though, cos on Storm they say they're from Leicester....
|
Yes, they are from Leicester. For some reason they lied originally. Why would someone do that?
|
Jesus really? How sad. To appear to fit in with the whole madchester thing i guess. Thats a bit patronising isnt it? To think that ppl will only like them if they come from a particular place?
|
I know, strange. Anyway, in the last interview with them that I read, they said they were from "The North". Since when has the East Midlands been the north? I'm scared, people might think I'm from London next...
|
im not getting this whole "revolution thing" with all the flags and banners these guys are trying to advertise themselves- they look like some terrorist organisation or religious cult. that said their music is cool, processed beats (which for a couple of weeks i thought was processed meats) is sweet and reason is treason is good. dunno if i'll waste a tenner on the album though...
|
I guess I can tolerate them given the Happy Mondays ain`t around anymore
|
I like one song... the only song I've heard. Cutt Off. Yes... hmm... wouldn't buy the album based on that one song though.

KASABIAN the best potted music !!!! i listened it once and i couldnt STOP!!! |
I presumed they were another overhyped NME band. They're actually not bad.

KASABIAN LIVE - Incredible experience!!!
Well, when I joined their concert in january, I didn't know nothing bout them at all. Just listened to a few of their songs: Beneficial Herbs, Processed Beats & L.S.F. I liked those & so I went to their concert in cologne. Pretty small club, I stood directly in front of the stage. Was a great show, I enjoyed it very much, although it was much too short. But what should they do? They've only one LP out by now...
I had to buy their album after the concert. The songs I like most are I.D., Butcher Blues and Test Transmission. I guess Brit Pop never dies??? :band: |
i hate them
|
i love kasabian, think they are great
|
i saw kasabian in concert. they were pretty good when they did club foot. it was a free concert, so i didn't really know who they were at first.:) but they are good tho.
|
well, i liked processed beats ( excellent song ) ,and club foot is ok, but i have a feeling the rest of the album isn't up to scratch with these songs...anyone listen to the whole album?...thoughts...objective maybe?is it worth downloading or is processed beats it?
|
download the singles off the album- cutt off, LSF, club foot, processed beats, reason is treason. you basically have the heart of the album right there.
|
Yep I like them got their album on my PC. Pretty good stuff, if not Happy Mondays reunited.
|
i like the album, some might say it doesn't live up to the singles but they really are great!!!
here's a link to listen to their album...i thought it was out already though..but nobody here( in sweden which i know i've pointed out a couple of times but the number of people that actually have what one could call a taste in music, that i've met, is surprisingly low) knows anything about them, it seems: www.kasabian.co.uk/album/ |
Jag älskar Sverige!!!

But here in Germany nobody knows bout Kasabian either... Well, that brings some advantages indeed, cause when I joined their concert in Cologne, they played in such a small club that I could stand directly in front of the stage. By the way: I will visit your beautiful country in the summer (I will see Stockholm as well). I'm looking forward to this trip so pretty much... |
i Love kasabian. awsome. the whole album is awsome, i'd love to see them live.
|

So disappointed that this thread hasn’t been more active :(
I named my cat after Serge Pizzorno  |
I remember meeting a guy who had gotten a tattoo with their new album logo just as it came out (whichever album was new at the time - something with colored arrows) and thinking that was risky. What if he gave it a couple weeks and thought it was actually a mildly disappointing album?
EDIT: At least that's what I always thought it was. Now I can't find that logo. I remember roughly how it looked. |
"Krazy" for Kasabian!!
I was aware of them from first release, but only knew "Club Foot". If I'd heard "LSF" or "Reason Is Treason" would've been on them "like white on rice"! Saw one of the Brit. festivals on MTV Live over the summer & immediately purchased DVD w/bonus CD of Live At The O2 & added them to Pandora Primal Scream station. Since that contained all my favorites from West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum (which I think is their best) and Velociraptor, that filled my musical appetite for about a month, when I craved more Kasabian! So, purch. 48:13 Deluxe I to have another DVD (since they're so amazing live! Even better than studio) I got lucky to get another DVD Live at Reading Festival 2012. Have another music lover friend who I got the double CD W.R.P.L.A. and Velociraptor, who also instantly became fan and went on to purchase entire catalog! I think they're releasing something new in '19 (hope so!!)[/COLOR] |
You go Karen gurl!! I think they will be releasing something next year but wouldn’t be too surprised if they decide to take a year or two out. My bank would be happy with that.
|
Hi-Hahah Fetcher...cute re: bank!
Who else are Kasabian lovers listening to? Since their music is so on a whole different level, it's a little tough to transition from them to another, but since 48:13 was more electronic, I can go from that to Metric (who've always combined guitars w/electronic; but they're not spacerock, or British...I so wish British would be it's own music category!). I've also loved since Synthetica and leapt for the new Art of Doubt release which is their career highlight (and, IMO, 2018's best new release, but there were quite a few in 2018; it was good music year). Blue Stones, too, but not so currently into blues. Maybe I'm not familiar enough w/forum, but I'm not finding what I'd hoped to w/discovering new music (either brand new, or just something I've missed); there seem to be a lot of metal and/or European listener members. Anyone have any helpful tips for navigating here? I've joined as many musical streams as I can find. Get updates from Allmusic and Pitchfork and some others. I've opened some new stations on Pandora hoping to get more leads (even though only real solid leads I've gotten there have been Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Billy Boy on Poison 2-3 years ago now). Found Plegemusic, a music-funding site, which is good for a lot of indie's. Actually, got Razorlight's Olympus Sleeping there (know they're derivative; like 'em anyway) Thanks! |
I think that right now on Netflix that there is a documentary on Kasabian. I have not watched it yet. I remember hearing Kasabian's "Club Foot" on the video game: Tony Hawk Project 8. That's how I first heard about them.
