Lifted is pretty cool. The first song, The Big Picture sounds a lot like Daniel Johnston in terms of rhythm and the mood but the lyrics are much more eloquent than anything Dan could've written.

I love the line "And don't go blaming your knowledge on...Some. fruit. you. ate!"

It does seem like he pulls a lot of inspiration from Johnston, but trying to compare their lyrical ability would be arbitrary.

So apparentaly there's only going to be one more Birght Eyes album now that conor has his other band and the Monsters of Folk thing. Think it's gonna sound like Cassadaga, or their old school stuff?

actually, no. according to conor himself bright eyes is over. everything else he does will be in his name or he may have new projects. but bright eyes will innevitably come back once conor decides to record with mike mogis again.
you should never forget how important the Mogis family is to Bright Eyes.

Conor will and has been recording music with Mike Mogis outside of the Bright Eyes label, just because they might be getting together again doesn't mean they'll release it under Bright Eyes.. but if they do, then that'd be awesome.

It might just be an album full of old recordings or something.

I want Mike Mogis to put out a solo album.

I mean he's helped virtually every up-and-coming group to spring out of Saddle Creek, and he's a consumate musician. I'd like to see him produce an album on his own, even if it was instrumental.

I think it would be interesting....if he hasn't done it already. I'm not sure if he has.
