The Apples In Stereo

Theres a bunch of links to them in the alt/indie sharing thread. They're happy, some of the songs are pretty lame though others are really good.

I really liked thier rawer 'Science Faire' sound with the constant buzz and rises.
Motorcar, Hailey, Turncoat Indian -- got a lot of plays off Science Faire from me.

I'll have to give them another shot, because The Velocity of Sound just sounded, among other things,
over produced (I could rag a bit more on this album) making it real easy to listen to something else.

They're odd but fun.

Zealious 06-20-2007 09:09 PM

we were all fans of apples before we even knew them

I love Her Wallpaper Reverie and Velocity of Sound, but I couldn't get into the new one.

joyboyo53 06-23-2007 12:03 AM

eh.. they are a little to happy for me. maybe i try again next month for a new taste.

Farfisa 11-30-2008 02:13 PM

I have "New Magnetic Wonder" and I'm enjoying it immensly. 'Tis very happy and wymsical but, I don't feel comfortable listening to it with my speakers turned all the way up.

Double X 12-02-2008 05:27 PM

Grrrrr some of the tracks skip a bit.

Sneer 12-10-2008 12:04 PM

benefits and the oasis are great songs... but much like the elephant six collective as a whole... theyre hit and miss

jedthehuminoid 12-10-2008 07:32 PM

All I know is that I put "Benefits of Lying with your friends" in almost every mixtape(cd) I ever make anyone that is not of same gender.

I'll never know you like you know yoursellllf. You'll never know me like i know myselllllf.

Google the youtube video for it, it sadly cuts off at my favorite part of the song, but it's insanely cute. Sorry, can't paste the link until I have a few more posts it seems.

I love their first three LP's.

Everything after I despise. 'Fun Trick Noisemaker', 'Tone Soul Evolution', and 'Her Wallpaper Reverie' all rule though.

I got New Magnetic Wonder when it came out and I didnt really like it..I started listening to it again today. I like it alot.

simplephysics 04-29-2009 06:16 AM

New Magnetic Wonder isn't a very good album, but seprately the most of songs are pretty decent.

Alfred 04-29-2009 06:31 AM

Only album I have by this band is Velocity Of Sound. I like it a lot.

Piss Me Off 04-29-2009 07:39 AM

So sugar-sweet it could give you tooth decay, but i do think they're alright. Could do with cutting out all the interludes they have though.

That is your opinion. And maybe other people's too. I, on the other hand, like it alot.

It's not a very cohesive album, but songs like Can You Feel It, Sunndal Song, Sun Is Out, Play Tough..ect. are all great and I love them to no end, but all thrown together I can't really dig it.

Cohesion is overrated... really it is.

All_Tomorrows_Parties 05-01-2009 10:17 PM

New Magnetic Wonder is their only album I own. I think it plays quite well. It's not a classic or anything but it's a good listen once inawhile.

I agree. An album being cohesive is just an added benefit. Albums dont need to be cohesive to be good.

lavitabassa 05-06-2009 04:52 PM

i really like them

jayfin3 03-08-2010 12:27 PM

I'm seeing them March 23. I'm pretty psyched.

Goofle 02-28-2012 01:29 PM

I don't see how you came to that conclusion. New Magnetic Wonder it a good record in my view. Her Wallpaper Reverie their best though.

Mr November 02-28-2012 01:41 PM

Good band. Only album I've listened to is Travellers in Space and Time. Some great stuff if heavy on the cheese.

The problem with HWR is the fucking interludes in between every goddamn track. At first they're charming in a quirky kind of the way, but as the album goes on they begin to seriously affect its flow and momentum. Individually, each actual song is superb, there isn't a weak track, indeed I'd say The Shiney Sea and Benefits of Lying (With Your Friends) are my two favourite Apples songs. As far as albums as a collective whole go though, I have to say I prefer Fun Trick Noisemaker.

Howard the Duck 08-12-2012 07:07 AM

having got the rest of their discography besides "Her Wallpaper Reverie", I must say I like them a lot

Holerbot6000 08-12-2012 10:26 AM

World inside the Moon is my favorite. I have not been that jazzed up about anything they've done since then.

Howard the Duck 08-13-2012 02:15 AM

just got "Her Wallpaper Reverie" yesterday

will be listening to it soon

Urban Hat€monger ? 08-13-2012 03:55 AM

I was obsessed with this band around 2000/2001
