...the distorted, heavy beat type sound of tv on the radio. anyone got any suggestions?

I don't understand that question. Is TV on the Radio the name of a band? Or do you mean a TV being knocked from a shelf by a gust of wind from an open window and falling with a crash onto a radio, plastic flying everywhere and the resultant crunching sounds, ornamented by fizzled out words of announcers on both devices, breathing their last electronic breaths?
