The Brian Jonestown Massacre

So I searched through the threads and couldn't find a single one devoted to the Brian Jonestown Massacre, so I decided to make one. I'll just say that I like them quite a lot. What do others think of them?

I've heard of them, but never actually listened. An upload would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, the hookup for one of my harddrives is broken, so I won't have access to anything on it until I get a new hookup. Unfortunately, all my Brian Jonestown Massacre stuff is on that harddrive. I'll upload some stuff once I can hookup my harddrive, but until then, it would be nice if others who have any Brian Jonestown Massacre uploaded. Sorry.

Glad to see there is a thread for BJM... I do very much love "Methodrone" and "Bringing it All Back Home Again". I was actually thinking about covering "Nevertheless" because of the sweet chord progressions but, I can't sing for two shits.

I feel a little ashamed that my only knowledge of them is their fight on stage in Los Angeles a few years ago. I have been meaning to find more out about them, but something else comes along my way and I forget about them. If anyone has an album uploaded that wants to send it my way that would be much appreciated.

I first heard of them in the documentary on The Dandy Warhols, "DiG!". What a messed up band! I assume, then, the group has not re-formed in any capacity? What has become of Anton Newcombe; has he achieved any kind of success on his own?

the BJTM are still going strong, their last album was 'my bloody underground'.

I'm a fan of most of their endeavours, they have a couple of band era's with a revolving bag of musicians contributing. FOr me personally the groups first incarnation were classic but a bit hit and miss, a lot of people go on about "satanic majesties second request" a sprawling homage to all things acid but I think for a starting point I would get their album 'give it back' it contains the country/freak beat/garage classic 'satellite' and the haunting 'the devil may care(mom & dad don't)", the latter brought real tears to my eyes, it's one the most effecting pieces of music I've ever heard. Another album with the original line up 'Take it from the man' contains some classic songs especially 'who' and 'in my life' sung by matt hollywood. they have lots of great songs from this era but the albumns feel dissjointed at times.

My personal favourites are the mini album 'ZERO' and the 'bravery, repetition , and noise' record, its packed full of great songs, 'nevertheless' just flaws the **** outta anyone who hears it.
this band is the real deal

Has anyone seen "Dig!"? It has some of the funniest things ever said by Anton... pretty much all unintentionally said of course.
