Is it too obvious to think it's going to be The Smiths influenced? The King Is Dead

Totally stoked though

I heard it described more as a throw to Americana, so I don't think it's going to be a musical reference, if it is one.

The new track sounds great. As far as their discography goes I think Castaways and 5 Songs EP are their best with Legionnaire's Lament being their best track.

The King is Dead leaked today.

I'm pleased with it, but right now it could either go either way, which is to say I'll either love it dearly, or enjoy it, but treat it critically.

I'm in the process of listening right now and I have to say I'm loving it, I like the country/folk vibe they went on this album, it's a step in the right direction after that progish concept album that was good but tired quickly. I have a feeling that I will like this almost as much as Picaresque after a few listens.

I wrote a review of it that I'll post once it's posted on this review site that I'm helping start up.

Spoiler: My rating was a 6.5 and my general feeling was "eh."

eh's a very good way to describe it. It has its moments but is lacking in a few places. Looking forward to your review though.

I thought it was a tad more solid. I'm not a review person (lack the writing skills), but I gave it 4 stars on RYM.

I really like the new album, the only thing I have against it is it feels like they gave up on trying new styles after Hazards. Albeit that isn't a bad thing as I love their older albums much more and this one definitely fits that style but it does feel like they went back the "safe" route.
